You can try some red scotch brite pads (red only, not green). Just scuff it a bit and see.
I read this somewhere else too, someone said to use the white ones not the green ones. Either way I'm gonna try in on my stainless grill first.

I would agree except somehow it isn't detectable to the touch. Sure looks like a deep scratch from the images. Maybe discoloration from solvent/acid on the rag?
On the Tesla service link that was sent above, it specifically has instructions for "light scratches: ones than can be seen but not felt"

SS is not quite as maint-free as I imagined it would be. Image of that section:

Yeah, I read that. I'm thinking if you just treat the scratch area it my look a different color than the rest of the panel. Then again if you treat one panel then this panel may look a different color than the rest of the panels, etc

Is it possible that the mark is actually a very thin layer of material that is filling in the low areas in the metal's surface texture? If so, a fine abrasive that is too soft to affect the stainless steel might remove the mark. I'd try something very mild, maybe clay or a scratch remover for paint.

While getting the windows tinted someone at the shop didn't realize the windows were raised above the normal level and closed the door. The window scratched the top sail (whatever it's called) there's absolutely no texture to it (completely smooth) and it's only visible at some angles. Anybody has any recommendations? Is there something i could use to buff/polish this out? Should I just get a service appointment? The shop will pay for it but the other things is that I was getting it wrapped in color next week and before anybody says; "who cares, it's getting color-wrapped", I will probably take the color wrap in a couple of years and get clear PPF.

Tesla can reapply the texture using an air sander. Not sure what the cost is. I would ask the tint shop for reimbursement.

If you have the door open and glass all the way up, take a pocket screw driver and close the latch in the door. The window will go up another 1 inch or so. That way the tint is installed to cover all the glass that can be exposed.
The trick is , when get ready to close door with glass up, hit the window switch so the glass goes back down and doesn’t hit the cantrail

Dont' use sandpaper!!!!!....use a Scotchbrite pad...they come in grits....they are expressly made for 'graining metal finish'...I was a machinist and did lots of Stainless Steel metal finish work.

However, we don't know the 'grit' Cybertruck used - I'd start with a smoother grit and work up to the coarser...

I'd expressely recommend you talk to a Tesla Repair Tech - they told me first hand they have and do refinish' cybertruck panels.

That said,...Your story only raises my anxiety about having my cars touched by inexperienced, enthusiastic people.

It can be fixed...

Test it on the bottom of the inside of a door? I plan to do some testing on that area to see if I figure out a way to fix some smooth spots.

I appreciate every scratch on my truck! Gives it character. This looks like a good one ??
LOL, it doesn't really bother me but it's brand new and if the shop is gonna pay for it then I might as well have it fixed before I wrap it.

I’m confused how that happened? I hear there is a grit of sandpaper that is used to give the stainless the final look that Tesla uses. I want to find out what that grit is and test it on the inside of my door. I removed a stain (bird poop) from my hood and I have a smooth spot there now. I don’t really care but want to play with “fixing” it.
I agree. It would be great to get a sample of CT steel 1x1 square to test maintenance methods and even unique intentional etching patterns in place of a wrap. A concept certainly not possible with a painted car.

Jack you nailed it. Great that you have experience with SS. Sure is a valuable experience today.
My truck at delivery had one blemish the size of an egg on the ledge of driver door window. Service drove truck back inside and 10 min later came back out and blemish is gone.
Whoever it is that works on the trucks in your SC with electric tools could write a paper on how to fix the 30X steel.

Did you read/see the section of the service manual on what Tesla recommends? They provided a lot of details.
