What's this(?)
Is this like a Caesar Salad ____or a 6 inch Subway(!)
Pulled chicken breast, iceberg lettuce, Midnight Cherry Tomatoes, freshly squeezed lemon, cracked pepper and a pinch of Zucker ( sweeten2taste )
Tossed or TossHer(?)
Who cares, unless it slows the production and delivery of Cybertrucks!

To almost quote someone, "All driver input is a software failure"
Unlike seemingly many here, I actually like driving. I’m not particularly keen on systems that take driving pleasure away.

I suspect that everyone here likes to drive. What makes you think otherwise? That we talk about the strengths and weaknesses of autonomous vehicles? I for one suggested to Tesla that they implement a non-FSD 'shotgun' mode that would watch what you are doing and interfere only when you or someone else is about to do something dangerous. I can see the value of FSD functionality when I get too old to maintain my autonomy because my driving skills or reaction time is compromised, and I do not find driving on I5 particularly enjoyable and would prefer to let FSD/NoAP do the work. For every day driving I need to be in charge.

I am of the opinion one day driving will be illegal. Sooner than we think. Starting from somewhere, and over time spreading to everywhere.

It will become clear to the majority that 99% of major injury and death are caused by drivers.

There will few parents who will not scorn upon drivers putting their kids in danger.

FSD will be everywhere, traffic lights may not be required at all. The only thing stopping safety for everyone will be drivers putting a screwdriver in the works.

Of course, there may be an option to drive, just for fun. But safety assist/FSD will be supervising.

Old fashioned driving will join horses on private land.

You mean like how firearms are the leading cause of death for children in the US, and so everyone is working hard to get tighter controls for them?

To be honest, FSD is still a long way from being able to work as a general-purpose, all-conditions, all-situations driver, despite Elon's annual promise of robotaxis coming 'next year'. You may be right that that future will arrive at some point, but I for one do not look forwards to it.

No, not talking about guns.

I am talking about drunk drivers, speeding, and human error.

Yes, and I was applying your logic of imminent bans to the current leading cause of deaths.

No, that is not my logic. That is your interpretation.

Are horses allowed on freeways ? Is it the rider or the horse ?

Is it considered unsafe ?
Does it hinder the flow of traffic ?

My point is that the roads will be safer, and traffic will flow more freely.
