Does everyone’s windshield wiper suck?

My wiper works fine, but:

• If cleaning, hold the spray for several wipes, as it doesn't spray much.
• I used RainX on the windshield, which makes the wiper quieter and more effective.
• The sprayer nozzles are pinholes and hard to see, but they might be clogged.
• The blade has a strong bend, which usually makes the center lift a bit until it breaks in.

Spraying on the downstroke would cause the fluid to accumulate at the bottom of the windshield, instead of being cleared to the side.

put a bottle of water in center console and squeeze it out over windshield when streaked. Voila.

Mine has worked well AFTER the replacement of the wiper motor. They swapped out the entire arm, wiper assembly including a differently designed wiper that has been working much better for me. Applies washing fluid evenly, no streaks. However, no, I don't expect that it'll work well as an ice scraper.

If anyone reading this has a perfectly fine and working windshield wiper, please comment. I have a theory that all of our windshield wipers are not working properly, but only the people living in areas where the weather requires a clean windshield often have noticed the issue.

I’m trying to figure out if it’s just my windshield wiper that sucks or if this is every Cybertruck. I’ve seen a couple comments from folks about the wiper and the jets that shoot wiper fluid. I live in the Pacific Northwest and it rains a lot as well as the roads are just damp and dirty. What I’ve noticed is that not only do the jets not properly spray fluid over the entire windshield, But the wiper itself doesn’t really contact the windshield near the top of the wiper. It’s acceptable for the driver even though still about 30 to 40% of the viewable area remains dirty. But the real problem is that the area that doesn’t get enough windshield wiper fluid and the wiper doesn’t fully contact the windshield smears dirt across the entire camera housing area. Making auto pilot and FSD unuseable even in perfectly acceptable weather conditions. I received my truck on Dec 23 2024 with a vin ending in 039xxx

I just refilled my windshield fluid because it was doing such a poor job cleaning the salt off I concluded it must have run out of fluid. Filling the fluid didn't help. So, yes my windshield wiper sucks.

If the engineers lived where it rained more than twice a year, the wiper would be better. Spray some WD40 on a clean micro fiber and wipe down the wire blade pinching both sides that touch the glass.

Fine grit gets caught and that vases streaking. Mine is actually pretty good now. Defrost sucks but finally clears the glass.

My only complaint is that it swipes every time I engage FSD.

I hate wipers. I prefer a clean windshield and RainX/ hotwax on the glass in most instances. For those extreme instances where a spray and swipe is necessary, every vehicle I've ever owned from 1972 on up sucks at the task.

Try the drop flop... While driving about 40, reach out and lift top of the wiper from the windshield about 6 inches or so and let it flop back into place. Then, try a cleaning wipe again. I just did that this morning and it worked great.

Should we have to do that? No.
Have I ever had a non-Tesla vehicle that benefitted from the same process? Yes.

There is no way that I could reach that far, and I wouldn’t try it even if I could because it sounds dangerous. How about if I do it standing still in my driveway?

I am pretty confused by what you say. Mine seems to work fine in the rain. It rains very little in the Bay Area much of the year but we have dust every day. What the wiper cannot do is clean a dry but dirty windshield. So the designers and engineers should have been able to build a ‘really’ good wiper for a dry but dirty windshield. I suspect that they knew it wasn’t going to work very well and figured that they would fix it - and just haven’t yet.
