I'm Dec 2024 Also NY Vin 556XX.. Do we know when the PCS started rolling our clean at what VIN?
I'm cautiously nervous and only charging to 50-70%.
no idea but we've seen a few reports up to at least 78xxx

"try to DC fast charge" is a completely new message. Free supercharging is very likely tied to only the trucks with that specific message.
Actually, I see both your comment and @Galvatron s comment as viable. It 'is' possible that Tesla cannot filter out those with PCS problems/appointment from the rest of us (though unlikely), and this 'is' a new message in the UI. That said, when I got the PCS errors and contacted Tesla Service they told me that I can still supercharge (although they were incorrect), so maybe that prompted updating the UI. Time will tell ...

I wonder if it’s possible to save the MOS FETs that are burning out by charging at a lower current rate, say 15 A or 20 A max.
At least until they get this run of PCS failures managed better.

Is the PCS problem related to charging percentage? I vary my charging depending on expected usage. Around town I either charge to 65-80% depending on how much mileage I expect to use in a particular day. When I am expecting to go on a road trip then I will charge to 100% the night before, and when I left for a recent vacation I charged to 100% and then unplugged the truck before leaving. So 99% of my charging is on the L2 charger, but I still got the PCS error (and had it fixed). I think that the PCS just fails and probably has little/nothing to do with how much you charge your truck. I do wonder if it has anything to do with what amperage you charge with since it seems to fail by first reducing the amperage you can charge at. I have always charged at the maximum amperage supported by my UWC.

I understand the amount charged being a variable value.

I don't know what the precise failure mode of the component is that has the MOSFETs. In general, MOSFET junction temperature has an influence in longevity so going with say half the permissible AMP charge level would significantly prolong their live.

Then again, there are tons of other parameters that may be of influence such as board spec, mounting, cooling etc. and any of these may already be on the hairy edge of a given PCS.

Is this CT PCS a in house part or is the PCS a vender supplied part or is it a partial in-house part and partial vender supplied part?
and
Is there PCS software failure too?
Tesla designs practically all aspects of their cars though they do not manufacture the electronics (PCB, stuffing etc), I believe that is mostly done by Flextronics and Sanmina for power electronics. I don't think there is any software involved in this failure mode.

The PCS failure mode may be direct MOSFET failure but there are also folks talking about solder join issues (cold/half soldered). The replacement is REV G. In some instances replaced units failed again - though it is not clear if that was REV G failing or perhaps an earlier version used to fix that CB.

there is a firmware update rolling out to all CT to permit DCFC even if the PCS fails. Without the update you may not be able to DCFC when the PCS fails.

VIN 12xxx and no failure or firmware update yet. have a 500+ mile trip coming up to move one of our boys out of college, CT is on duty. Fingers crossed.
