Also forgot to mention that despite the pcs being replaced I still have free supercharging till the end of July. Just in time for some road trips too!

I messaged service about why after my computer replacement and fully updated do I not have the free supercharge, they said they are Investigating it and closed the chat. Kinda feels like a cold shoulder just go away response. Meh.

Got my truck back today. All fixed up. They did some other things besides replace the PCS. Confused about the tonneau work…I never had any leaks into the bed and it’s been parked outside for a year. The sail appliqué work looks like they replaced everything around the tonneau…all the plastic looks new and my tonneau buttons are brand new. Plus the top of the tailgate looks new too.
Very happy to have the beast back…still no lightbar though!

I’m also in Jersey. Can I ask, what SC did you use? How long between Service Request and work completion?

I go to the new totowa location. Great group of people there and they always take care of me. From time of opening PCS service request to completion was a little over a week. Install was same day. I used to go to Paramus but this spot is closer and easier to deal with.

Thanks. I’m more central, so that’s far for me. That’s a great turn around. I’m already on day 5 and don’t even have an appointment set up yet. I’m worried this is going to take months. Having to sit at a supercharger every other day is already getting old.

Agreed. It’s a little annoying. Closest to me is the American dream mall which is a nightmare…or Kearny…equally nightmarish. Hope yours goes quickly.

Now I am worried.

I have a 47xxx VIN. According to the PCS tool, I have the E version.

I charge everyday at home, 48amps, and have 33,000 miles. So if this is a fatigue issue, I am surprised that I have not seen this issue yet.

No free supercharging, I checked.
Just wondering if you usually do bigger recharges such as from 20% to 80% or smaller ones such as from 50% to 60%

On the same vein, I use a 3.8kw (16 amp x 240 volt) charger at home. I was wondering if the lighter charge rate has helped preserve my PCS?

Aug 2024, ~20k miles on my truck.

The EE in me is asking how hard is it to get the PCS card/board out and inspect for cold solder joints.. I'm good with a soldering iron. Hahaha.. I'll leave that one back in the toolkit. Thanks for the comments. 3rd party suppliers and quality of "product in" is often a big issue for vendors that don't manufacture ll of their *stuff*. Tracking and monitoring is as hard as making it sometimes. The pain of impact when it gets out to the field far outweighs the doing of it right. SIgh... They seem to be on top of where/when/how at least...
(grin) Funny, the EE in me said the same thing - I can even reflow in my own oven. It is a little hard to believe that they would have cold solder joint issue, one of the more simple things to do right and inspect for. Anyway, I wouldn't attempt to do a reflow - have you seen how big them MOSFETs are? Gigantic.

I just hope I am not gonna get caught by this stupid failure in the field somewhere...
I think it is because they pick and place the bottom of the PCB first. Then it gets soldered. Next the top side is pick and placed, and soldered. When it is soldered, the bottom side components solder melts. When that happens, the FETs can become skewed and non parallel with the PCB. That means the heat doesn't transfer as well to the cold plate.

Glue dots on top (yellow circles), Tesla likely followed the manufacturer guidance. Top side first, then FETs (and micro) on bottom.

4 year 50k mile warranty are still active on those. Though the price does seem high, even including FSD, wheels, and interior.
