Nothing in what Elon responded with said he was okay with the issue. He simply explained what happened.
Agreed. Hopefully he’s on someone’s ass about his dealerships not prepping every Tesla for delivery. There’s just no excuse.

Maybe Elon is right on the fix, maybe not. WHAT WE KNOW he is wrong about, is the fact that he seems to believe it is perfectly acceptable to deliver a $100k+ (brand new) vehicle to a customer like this. 5 mins? then what is the excuse for delivering that way???
Huh? There is no evidence Elon thinks it's acceptable to deliver a new vehicle like that!

I'm sure he believes it's unacceptable, based on his previous comments on build quality. Where do people come up with zany ideas like this?

If it’s only a 5min fix, shame on the SC for letting it be delivered like that.
They may not have seen it. This is really an end-of-line test issue and not an SC issue. I bet they all have check lists of things to look at and don't look beyond that list. When Tesla identifies and issue I bet that it is added to the checklist until it is fixed in general assembly.

Exactly my thoughts. Elon is still acting like this is a startup.
You mean, that he bothered to respond to this kind of comment at all? The only time a CEO even bothers to interact with employees or the media is when they are a startup. Tesla is not a startup but Elon responds to this kind of thing occasionally. The lands him outside of the box.

He responded because of the reviewer.

Ask him why AutoWipers still aren’t accurate and see if he answers you.

Nothing a little duct tape can’t fix….

You guys dont have to defend tesla they are big boys/girls.

MKBHD is doing his job. Which is to make content and inform his audience.

Some people would like to buy a 100k vehicle that doesnt have the door misaligned after 1 month.
As a Tesla buyer that loves the vehicles I fully agree. We should know all the things that can go wrong. He showed a problem that existed. It’s not fake. Maybe it won’t happen to us but it did happen.

It's pretty rare for Elon to post a reply to a specific issue with one of their vehicles.
I thought the same thing when I saw it posted, been crickets from him as far as rust, range, gaps, etc posts. This one for some reason got a response, maybe because it was so egregious. I personally think it is good for them to get addressed publicly because silence on the issues does not instill confidence.

We’ve come to the point where these issues on a $100k car are acceptable because of Brand Loyalty….. unreal….

Not sure why MKBHD even mentioned it. A little Loctite Blue and what, 60 seconds with a wrench (and that includes taking it out, finding the right bit and putting it away) and you're done. Will likely never again be an issue.

I hope he doesn't do a McD's review because their burgers looks nothing like they do in ads.
Top bolt 'nut' vibrated off and fell down into the door. Imagine if the lower one did that as well.

Seems like a part of the truck that you'd want to make sure had the right tension and loctite from the factory. Not as bad as wheel nuts but still (BTW, had a friend get Tesla service a few years back and they didn't tighten the nuts all the way on one wheel ... highway vibration got him to pull over and saw it before the wheel came off.)

ugh. That's no fun.

The last Tesla I picked up was delivered to me with a nail in the drivers side rear tire and the tire pressure warning message displayed in the dash. Oh, and since Tesla shows tire pressures it was clearly 10-15 PSI under so if anyone bothered to do a pre-delivery check there is no way they didn't notice it.

How is that better?
So if they know it's a simple issue with it not being torqued down enough, it should never be an issue again, as they have learned what spec to torque it to and they have the QA to "rinse and repeat" and check it going forward. Problem solved.
Now just need to figure out how to fix all the other issues, that are not right, when they are delivered to customers, because it seems like it's a cold day in hell when they deliver a Cybertruck with no issues, so it does not need to be brought back to the SC.
