From my understanding from the call...they will have the giga press and other lines for general assembly installed and will be building some validation betas CT prob at the end of next month.

Which makes sense if they want to start production in summer. They would have 3 months to test the crap out of these betas with the castings.

All new betas should be coming out of Austin from now on. Also i doubt they will camouflage these betas so we should see pretty much the final versions out and about. Hopefully parked somewhere to get measurements and other specs before reveal.
I hope they camouflage them to look like this:
Tesla Cybertruck Elon: Cybertruck will have Autopilot HW4. Production still coming in Summer. Beta Cybertrucks coming next month. CT will be Musk's personal vehicle 1674737539535

Funny thing about this is most of the time I see Musk getting into a car, it’s in the back seat.

But considering his heightened concern for security, I think the Cybertruck would be his first choice. Preferably with upgraded glass and Kevlar reinforcing on the doors.

Not that I know what I'm talking about, but those security dudes looked hardcore.

It’s only been 3 years 2 months since announcement of CT.
If you are 40k in line and say 60% of the early orders don't complete which puts u about 16,000 in line yeah u might get urs.
Before people get all huffy saying 60% is too high please remember it's been about 5 years. People die, they get married, they have a kid, that kid grows up and goes to college. Interest rates go up, stock market goes down, they get laid off from Twitter.
There is a world of difference between putting $100 down and then waiting 5 years and then actually purchasing $60,000 vehicle.

Per Elon Musk on the 2022 Q4 earnings call:

Elon:

Cybertruck will have HW4. HW3 to HW4 retrofit is not needed.
For 2023 Cybertruck will not be a significant contributor to the bottom line, but it will be next year (2024).
I can't wait to drive it. It's the car I will drive personally.
We do expect production to start some time this summer.
Volume production (which is more important) won't happen until 2024.
More Beta Cybertrucks are coming next month.
I hope Tesla's first production of the CT is a quad motor model and many waiters pass and I will jump on it since I'm in last rank of the waiting list.

Early reservation. Hoping to get one this year but I reserved a dual motor so unlikely. My res # is 117, Tesla owner in CA. Here's hoping.

Something else I haven't seen mentioned is that your order timing will likely also depend on which configuration they produce first. Originally they said it wpuld be the tri motor but now since they eliminated the single and added quad who knows...

General question - What versions of Model Y and 3 were first delivered? As I recall on the 3, the first delivered or available were the RWD LR.

Elon did not say there would be no meaningful volume until next year.

He said Cybertruck production wouldn't contribute meaningfully to the bottom line until next year. For those who don't know, "the bottom line" refers to the profit or loss at the end of an accounting period, not the revenue. All vehicle ramps are unprofitable until large volumes are being cranked out every day. Until then, the expenses overwhelm the sales revenue. Elon was talking to analysts whose job it is to model expected profits.

I would be super pleased if they manage to put out 15-20K this year and would not be dissappointed if they only manage 6K (that's still a lot of trucks). The initial part of a ramp is always slow, perhaps more so with so much new manufacturing technology incorporated, including new tech from suppliers.
I predict they are shooting for 69,420 CTs made this year. But I think they will only make 6,942 CTs this year

The way I expect that dynamic to play out is for all orders to be treated equally, based only on date and location. Which configuration you ordered will not matter at all because you will be given the oportunity to change it. As your reservation nears, Tesla will reach out to you and have you confirm whether or not you want to order whatever is available at that point in the production cycle.

I guess depends on what you mean by “Meaningful Volume”.

He also said “Slow Ramp” and volume manufacturing in 2024. Nothing about those two phrases suggests they are going to break 10k trucks in 2023.

Honestly… his comments made me wonder if even my 10k number was safe.
