I found this interesting. Looks like GM is considering getting into much more than just EV's. As a Silverado EV reservation holder, I received this survey in my email on behalf of GM. The gist is a bunch of questions about how much I'm willing to pay for at home charging solutions, and whether it would be compelling to bundle home charging with solar panels, powerwall, and power managment system. They even mentioned the Tesla Powerwall in the survey (more free advertising for Tesla!).

I view this as confirmation that Tesla has been right all along to focus efforts on the whole sustainability ecosystem: powerwall, solar, EV, grid tie, management, etc. Or at least confirmation that GM is looking into this route. Interesting that they're willing to compete on more than just the EV itself.

Thanks for sharing.

I don't understand that $6K price and it looks like a mistake especially compared to the others on the left of it :)

Yeah, at first I was confused by this too. But as I clicked through the survey, I was presented with many of these comparison panels (like 15 of them?). They each had different price levels and features. I think the goal was to tease out what motivates the buyer. Are they more likely to focus on price, or features, and which features are they willing to pay more for.

I'm kind of baffled. Is GM really going to compete with Tesla on this? And how?

Just like that, the Chevy Bolt is gone in a flash.

General Motors CEO Mary Barra announced in an earnings call Tuesday that the automotive giant would end production of its small, popular Chevrolet Bolt electric models at the end of the year.

Barra said it was in order to shift operations at its assembly plant in Orion Township, Mich., toward the production of two electric trucks: the GMC Sierra EV and the Chevy Silverado EV.

None of those options do the same thing or even have much relation to the price. What a bizarre survey.

I've been ignoring the GM emails...
