I have 2 Powerwalls, Tesla Solar Panels, and a Gen 3 Wall Charger. When I plug my Cybertruck into the Gen 3 wall Charger, I don't see the option to power the house using it. I really need the extra battery of the Cybertruck with a full house of family. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Tesla has not released the software needed to use Powershare with Powerwalls yet.
You'll need to use the bed outlets and extension cords.

You need the Powershare Gateway.

First, it's like they said, it's not possible quite yet...

Second, make sure you put your solar system into 'off grid' mode so it doesn't try and send power out to the grid (it will do little 'tickles' to the grid if the GRID goes down so it can watch and see when it comes back up). Just those little tickles can really add up.

Third, if your system isn't powerful enough to power your house when off grid then start unplugging things that aren't being used - again, anything that has a power light on it when it's turn off is draining SOME power... I know, it's hardly anything, but 25 hardly anything's can add up to 1 or 2 'things'... Keep lights off as much as possible, but the BIG 'drains' are going to be your fridge, stove/oven (if electric), water heater, HVAC system. Set the HVAC at a temp where it's using less (higher temp settings of just 3-4% can make a HUGE difference). Same with water heater, set it to keep water 'less hot'...

Run some extension cords to power your laundry, as needed, from your CT, that will make your Powerwalls last longer...

Remember, Powerwall 2/3's are 13.5 kWh... (I have same with a 10.8 kWh solar panel setup) That means you only have 27 kWh in your Powerwalls... Your CT can have up to 123 though, or about 5 times as much...

HOWEVER, keep in mind that your Solar System is MAKING energy to resupply the PWs as well as being able to charge your CT (albeit slower, usually at about half rate of charge for me when I am off grid), but again, it depends a lot on the size of your system.

But, just turn off and unplug as much as you can and see how many 'hours' your solar system and PWs can keep you backed up... You only have to 'get through the night' mostly, right?

She has Tesla Solar and Powerwalls, so should already have a built in (or separate) gateway for the Solar system...

Which is a software issue, not a lack of hardware issue.
Yes, if they had a pure Powershare installation instead of a pure Powerwall it would work. However, long term that's the department of redundancy department.
They need SW not another gateway.

I didn't think that the Gen 3 Wall adapter supports it.

Thanks for the replies! It's a 11.6 kW Solar system, largest you can get in Florida without needing a million dollar umbrella policy (thanks power company lobbyist!).

So it sounds like Tesla just hasn't released the updated software yet. Can't wait for that! When they do, I can go to a local supercharger and top up when it's available, which will be great!

It turns out that on sunny days (ironically you always seem to have great weather after a hurricane), the solar is generating slightly more than the AC uses. It'll be at night where the issue comes in. We'll see this evening.

BTW, that's my wife in front of our Cybertruck, not me...

I didn't think that the Gen 3 Wall adapter supports it.

Powershare stand alone requires Powershare UWC.
Powershare with Powerwall can use any Wall Connector (I think it used to say any 240V EVSE).

you need the universal wall connector not the third general connector that supports bi directional charging.

No they don't. Universal variant of Wall Connector is only needed for pure Powershare installations. Powerwall systems work with any Wall Connector (once Tesla releases the software, that is).

No. If you get the Powershare Gateway before a Powerwall then that is all you need. Either one!
