Also, in Phoenix at least, where there are defined peak and off peak rates, the powerwalls’ completely idiot proof time based settings cut my power bill in half before I ever installed the panels.

You may benefit from powerwall3 paired with powerwall expansion packs, depends on scale of your system. Stacking full powerwall3s may be redundant

for me I had power share installed but later got powerwall3 and more solar, they completely removed the powershare gateway since it's not needed anymore with the CT
This makes sense to me since PW3 (or any PW) will enable PowerShare. However, the PW software update for PowerShare hasn’t been released yet. Tesla Energy has publicly said Q3 2025…they have about 1 months left to hit their date lol.

Also, IIRC, Cybertruck will be able to output the same as a single PW3: 13.5 kW.

That’s true. The only reason I think that’s a good idea (two powerwalls) is having at least two inverters and 12 mptt’s for big stuff like air conditioning and simultaneous high demand from other appliances, pool pump and an EV charger but any additional storage if you need it should be dc expansion packs, not powerwalls.
Cheaper for obvious reasons.

Right I was planing on possibly getting a smaller system and adding 2 powerwalls for 2 inverters.

What did you do with your powershare gateway

Never had one. My AWD didn’t come with one and when I went shopping for one I figured out the powerwall was a much better deal for my circumstances.
what’s interesting is that here in Phoenix where there are definite on peak and off peak rates, just the powerwalls cut my power bills roughly in half before I ever installed any solar.
The time based settings are completely idiot proof. I didn’t have to do anything, just enter my electric provider and rate plan code. That’s it.

So far got a quote from a local installer two options
1. Large 21.7kW 50 panel system with 2 tesla inverters without powerwalls for 63K
2. Smaller 15.6kW 36 panel system +2 powerwalls for 66K
Thinking which direction to go. In the first option we would be 100% covered in the day, charge the cars in the day and use powershare as an emergency system. Pay pge at nigh
second option will give us pretty much all the coverage plus smooth battery integration as needed

I’d vote for option 2 all day long. Shop around though. Prices vary around the country but that sounds expensive to me.
the best deal I found at the time was about 9k for each powerwall which supposedly is 15k at “full price”

Also consider the tax benefit of course. Not sure if you caught this thread but I suspect what they are saying is likely true of solar too.

I don’t KNOW that whatsoever though so worth asking someone who does.

I have same setup, but I have 2 PowerWall 2s. I’m expecting software update will enable PowerShare for me, but I do wonder whether it will be limited to PowerWall 3. Thoughts?
No way. They are going to make it backwards compatible. In my opinion.

Those guys are chargibg 10K per powerwall, thats not too bad
That’s pretty good. Very close to what I paid but they owed me one because they accidentally drilled close to 100 holes on the wrong side of my roof. Don’t even get me started.

Hey, would you mind connecting me with your installer? My installer is telling me that, in order to get solar, PW, PS, and CT working together, that I need my existing PS gateway AND a new Gateway 3.

If the PS gateway (which I bought in 10/24 and have not installed yet) is not capable of managing the solar and PW elements, why would Tesla sell it as the solution (pending software update)?

I shouldn't have to shell out an extra $4k for a second gateway...

There are several threads talking about the difference between a gateway 3v and V3 I think or some other confusing naming scheme I don’t exactly recall.
As I said, I never had a gateway, but your installers logic sounds vaguely familiar from what I have read in those threads.
You need a a reliable source. @mongo are you out there? Or does it need to to be said three times like beetlegeuse?
