Here is my question for the group.
I reserved a two motor CT and I guess my price is locked in at the advertised (when I reserved it) price of $49,900.00.
But......if when they contact me to let me do my trim and other options I decide to upgrade to the tri-motor will they honor then then price of $69,900.00 or will they try to get more than the 20 grand difference between the two models?
I'm seriously considering the upgrade. We do a lot of towing since we have a working farm and the extra mileage would offset the lower range.
I would probably bite the bullet for the extra 20K but not much more. I'm hoping to keep my payment below a grand.

‘I think if they lock the price for original reservation holders, they will give you the same price. CT3 likely has the largest margin. It is good for them if you upgrade. If you know that is what you want, the prices are still the same on their website.

Tesla has never increased prices before they launched the initial product.

Of course this year has been somewhat unprecedented with 5 different price bumps to the Model Y and Model 3.

So… maybe?

It's based off of how insurance policies pay out on death. A common mortgage insurance is to make sure the house - or farm - is paid off for one's survivors.

So "bought the farm" means "died".

Everybody knows that. It was assumed while tongue in cheek.

When I bought my VW Golf diesel. I wondered how some one could look at the gasoline version for the same price that got 20mpg and choose it over the diesel that got 40mpg. this would have been in the year 2000.
I have a 2018 Golf R and although there's nothing with the Diesel (well, except the lying on emissions tests) I can tell you the Diesel was in no way interesting to me. I do like quick cars though.

I have experimented with fuel mileage by opening and closing my motorized tonneau cover on my F350 dually. I can tell no difference at all but that’s a whole different ballgame. Just because it has no effect on the Diesel engine doesn’t mean anything when it comes to an electric drivetrain. I’m sure the cover will have at minimum a noticeable affect on cybertruck range and probably a significant affect. I agree, it’s a must.
The shape of a traditional pickup creates terrible drag even with the bed covered. That's because it has two large drag areas, one behind the cab and another behind the tailgate. Closing the tonneau doesn't change that meaningfully. Even dropping the tailgate has a minimal to negative impact because it creates more drag behind the cab. The Cybertruck, on the otherhand, has smooth airflow with the tonneau closed so opening it will lower efficiency substantially.

At highway speeds the bulk of the energy we consume to travel is overcoming aerodynamic drag so it makes huge sense to design the vehicle to minimize that. That's why Cybertruck has adjustable ride height as standard equipment.

Most likely the top end Cybertruck will be largely indistinguishable from the “base”, both inside and out.
You'll be able to distinguish my Tri-Motor by the puddle of tears on the dash from when I was reviewing my auto insurance bill

I confess to not keeping up with the bill. When and how probable is this? Is it a point of purchase discount when you write the check to Tesla for your Model Y or does it come off your taxes when you file?
But only for Union shops? That would be a bummer.
