How do you pre-order Range Extender?

When I configured my truck, it mentioned the $500 deposit to pre-order the range extender, but nowhere in the config did it actually allow me to pre-order it. Is it something that can even be pre-ordered yet? I'm obviously not sure I'll need it, although I like the idea of getting closer to the 500mi range from the concept. I'd be annoyed to find out that it isn't something I can even get unless I pre-ordered it with the initial config.

Interesting, it wasn't there for me when I received my invitation at the beginning of June.

When you go through the order process you have the option of reserving (only) the range extender for $500. If you select it you will be charged the $500 and you will get an email saying that you have one reserved. There is only one opportunity to do so during the ordering process as far as I know.

Interesting, I configured on my phone. I remember the Range Extender section, but the checkbox to reserve today was not present. It definitely wasn't there when I went back and modified my configuration. Thanks for the screenshots.

Maybe Tesla changed things. You should talk to your sales advisor.

Yeah I saw it during my ordering, but who knows when or if we'll ever see it xD

Same thing happened to me and my order was same timeframe as you replied to someone's comment. June 27th. My guess is we preordered one when we reserved the truck years ago. Not sure but if you find anything out please let me know

I’ve got a second reservation that I was recently invited to configure. I haven’t yet, but I checked it this morning and it has the range extender option, independent of whether AWD or Beast is selected first.

Yeah, their app can be a little flaky. I ordered my Powershare bundle on the app and at checkout it was Powershare and Wall Connector, but the order only generated with the Powershare (which you can't even order alone). My app version probably had an app update pending when I ordered the CT.

Not sure whether I'll really want/need the range extender anyway.

If it buys me an extra day, two, or three in the woods then I want it because over time that will add up and be much more valuable to me than the decrease in truck bed volume.

FYI, I ordered my Cybertruck April 5th and was offered the option to preorder the Range Extender (and took it). So if they stopped offering it it would have been after that.
