So why do we think this is? Is it because of the size of the battery and the hardware around it or is it because it’s still running immature software? If it’s the latter we can expect an improvement over time.
That was definitely the case with our 2016 model x back in the day. It got SO much better at charging and maintaining charge over the years it was hard to believe.
Or is it something else entirely?
Honestly no idea - that's above my pay grade. Just something I noticed comparing both models. What i might do as an experiment is charge them both to 70% and leave them for a day or two and compare. Id assume if your X got better with it over time the same will happen with the CT. Personally I think its a software thing. For example my CT wakes up every time I walk near it the Y doesn't. Maybe its constantly checking for a connection or something. Maybe its sending more info back to tesla where they have years of data on the Y.

How often did you check your app? it will use more energy each time it wakes up, like us human.

When I leave mine in my shed, (been in there since the end of April), I close the app and let it sleep. I check once a month and it only drops a half percentage a day.

I noticed the battery is draining much faster after the recent updates.
+1 for this.

I’m still waiting for the Grok update in hopes it fixes the issue, but after the last update to 20.6 which was only “Minor Fixes” the CT will lose several miles per day while parked in my garage and plugged in with no Sentry.

Any ideas on the consequences of leaving the mid voltage disconnected to try and stop the huge parasitic drain? I loose 5% in 12hrs overnight.

My Model S looses charge at about that rate. My CT on the other hand, even with the app on my phone deleted, looses 10% a day. Service center has been no help. I don't like paying an extra $60 a month in electricity for nothing.

Once, or repeatedly?
Connectors have a limited number of mate/disconnect cycles they are rated for.
Other than that, if you follow the service procedure, you should be fine for reasonable lengths of time (keep pack happy)
One full power cycle might even clear up issues.

You already checked the usual menu item culprits?
Could also request service to do a remote look at your logs.

The Service Center personnel are "Wrench Engineers", not Software Engineers. You need to demand an escalation so that an actual software person at HQ can review the firmware logs, they can even do this remotely.

This is not a terrible idea to do once, since it's essentially a "cold start" reboot of all systems. Even the "power off" menu option doesn't really shut down everything, just like when your TV is "off" it can still respond to the remote.

Any concerns if leaving it disconnected for too long might clear out the key cards?

Looking at the service manual, I won't be leaving the mid voltage disconnected because:
  1. Fully lower all door windows to avoid glass shatter and door lockout conditions.
  2. Open the LH and RH rear doors, and then pass a shop towel halfway through each door striker to prevent the latch from securing.

Perplexity lists a lot of things to check with VCFront that can cause a continuously running pump. Getting a software engineer looking at it would be best.

Does the truck even go into sleep mode while charging? If not this would make sense using that many watts.
