At least on the iPhone, the Tesla app should be kept running (it warns you if killed). I suppose that means it needs permission to run in the background, as well.
On the S20FE, the app was always still running, but it felt like it wasn't running often enough to do the handshake. Once I brought it from background back to on top, unlock etc all worked. Kind of like the phone was just over-whelmed. Def contributed to the decision to get a more current device. It was a good move. Possibly better Bluetooth/RFID hardware in this mix.

Yes, there's a Bluetooth reception dead zone behind the truck. IMO, this is the single biggest flaw of the Cybertruck. I'm constantly stepping to the left side of the tailgate to operate the tonneau or unlock the tailgate. I have an old phone though, I don't know if the latest/greatest Bluetooth (LE?) mitigates this issue at all.
I had no issues with my iPhone 16 Pro Max, but I get the 'dead zone' with my iPhone Air. Super annoying!!

Read your story, bummer, at least you were able to get help via remote.

But, probably still best to always keep your wallet, phone, or both on your person.

Or as suggested get ring key.

I keep a key on my finger. Don’t use phone key at all.
What ring do you have that works with the CT? I have 'a friend' who lost his wedding ring (not the first time...) and may want a replacement.

Thanks. I know Amazon has a bunch of different ones but wanted recommendation from someone who actually uses it. The site specifies Cybertruck 2015 and newer... Mine is a 2024. Wonder what the difference is.
Nahh all Tesla use the same key tech. It’s just a unique chip RFID thing, once you get it, you just add it as a key in the car menu. It’s saved me a few times.

I use this one… works great with the Cybertruck

Tesla Cybertruck Locked Out-Be Careful (leaving phone in truck) imag

It’s made by cnick.

Great to use when rafting or doing water sports so you don’t need to carry anything on your person.
