On the S20FE, the app was always still running, but it felt like it wasn't running often enough to do the handshake. Once I brought it from background back to on top, unlock etc all worked. Kind of like the phone was just over-whelmed. Def contributed to the decision to get a more current device. It was a good move. Possibly better Bluetooth/RFID hardware in this mix.At least on the iPhone, the Tesla app should be kept running (it warns you if killed). I suppose that means it needs permission to run in the background, as well.
