Probably because OP says they cannot get back inside of the truck to do the wheel reset.
I hope you read other posts that clarified the obvious.

One doesnt try to restart a computer when it has no power - try pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL when your computer has no power and see what happens. You may try, but if you cant even physically reach the buttons (the OP was locked out), that would look pretty silly, wouldn't it?

Why are you giving me hard time?
I thought the question was related to when they were in the truck already and if they tried that then.

...That's when you do the PRAM reset or capacitor discharge reset, so yes, you do push buttons when the computer has no power.

Also, you can't tell if it's unresponsive if you don't push buttons.

But it does sound like the low-voltage system had a fault, there should be a procedure on rebooting it from the outside. With Model 3/Y it involves a battery to pop the frunk and giving you access to the low voltage battery.

But ultimately, either that battery or the DCDC power converter has failed.

Fair. But even then no power makes scroll wheel reset irrelevant
Sometimes equipment keeps circuits open/available on critical components but has them off on others. Just because a screen/display is dark does not mean the components related to it are 'off'. I've had displays on equipment/computers be off for various reasons (cable loosened up, graphics 'card' had software bug, etc) but the equip/computer was still on.

It was question whether they tried a hard reset, you know, BEFORE they got locked out. It would be useful to know whether that would work in this situation, wouldn't it?

OP said the door open button wasn't working either, they had to use manual release. It's fairly obvious there's no power, resetting won't do anything.
