Will you be connected to trailer / RV while charging at the supercharger stations?

I’m guessing we will need to disconnect our trailers/RV’s at the super chargers while charging. Imagine the parking lot now with five CT’s charging for the next recreational haul OR job site and several RVs and tool trailers also in the parking lot . . . disconnected. Am I missing something?

I have never seen a Tesla charging station that would allow a pull-through. With an 11,000 pound pulling capacity you could have something in the range of up to close to 30 feet long. It will be interesting to see how Tesla figures that out. Do we even have an idea of what the range is pulling a trailer?

Think of it this way. Two vehicles to push through the air. One is the CT with 0.33 aero coeff. The other is an RV trailer with 2x the frontal area and an aero coeff similar to a brick around 0.95. They share the energy from one battery. What do you estimate the range to be?

If you are thinking you might get as much as 1/2 the range, you will likely still be disappointed.

At present the only thing being trailered will be my bass boat. Canyon and Dunlap are nearby, Bastrop and Fayette have a Buc-ees. Choke canyon could be a problem, same as LBJ and any lake north of Austin. I think I'm screwed on this. Might need that add on battery.

Boats might be slightly less drag than a big RV, but they are not as aerodynamic as one might think.

I've thought about this. Unless it's 2AM and I'm Supercharging alone, I'm going to plan on disconnecting my trailer 80 percent of the time. I'm not going to be the douchebag blocking charge sites. We're all early adopters here and don't need to give anyone a reason to hate Tesla or EVs in general.

Meh. Superchargers are like movie theaters: jam-packed at peak times, but basically empty otherwise. You can block a few stalls for 30 minutes without inconveniencing anyone.

Of course, when it’s Thanksgiving week and cars are waiting, it would be rude.

Perhaps the trip planner will prioritise drive-throughs.

I expect all major highway charging locations to eventually have drive-throughs.
