Not sure if it is quite as common, but when I got that error, just under 3 weeks later my truck went into reduced power/limp mode and had to be towed into the service center

bemis, When you say "that error code" do you mean precisely the PCS2_a051 unable to charge , service is required, message ?

Thought supercharging (by nature of direct DC → DC) was unaffected by PCS failures?
PCS failure can affect additional high-voltage components (precharge circuits, contactors, fuses, or broader PCS/HV systems). In those situations, Supercharging may also stop working.

Usually goes no powershare > 48A to 24A > no home charging > no supercharging (sometimes)

Yeah, Tesla can update the charge cables from the vehicle. Also via WiFi for Wall Connectors

That was for the PCS units on the cars. I still have a 2017 with a half fried PCS that has worked DC for years. It is the new PCS2 used in the Cybertruck. Tesla created some type of a patch to enable the DC back again. So should be working on DC end when PCS2 goes bye bye.

If you ask me. I think it has to do with the power share functionality introduced. Whether used or not. It added a new wrench to the mix. Memories of the early on Octovalve to solve the resistence heater power use.

My PCS went bad about 2 weeks ago... Same day it went bad I put in a service request... I still don't have a date to bring it in... I understand they don't have parts but what's a reasonable timeframe for them to figure out when they will get parts to schedule me? I'm going on a 2,000 mile trip over next 2 week and would be horrible to be stranded with the family if supercharging stops...

Yes I got free supercharging. And live in NJ so there are plenty of chargers for me here at least.

As someone said before, not all G revisions are the same.

As far as I know, there hasn’t been a repeat failure after the correct one is installed.

The good part is the one that ends in T2-G. If it is 1777777-12-G then it still has failures that’s installed originally from VIN 75k to 81k according to the data available.

You can add the last six of your VIN to check which part you have here:
