You need the specific Powershare Gateway (3V model) and the Universal Wall Connector.
I just installed a Universal charger. I already had the gateway, with my solar and PowerWalls. When you set up the charger, the steps lead you through wirelessly connecting with the gateway and adding it to the Tesla app. Easy! Incidentally, on Tesla website they specify that PowerShare works (or will work?) with ANY gateway.

Right...it works wirelessly to direct power from batteries and truck feeds batteries only. Was your Universal WC wired to Gateway or a subpanel after Gateway?

Sub panel after gateway.

Sub panel after gateway.
Yes it would have been easy for me to do wireless connection via app but I threw away my box that had the correct scan code and now using the scan code on wall charger it states I need a service tech to finish set up.

Frustrating! I started to mention the code on the charger. Seems like that should work!

Yeah, the universal charger install was a nightmare. Installers app kept failing after scanning the QR code and trying to finalize the changes and then it got stuck trying to install a firmware update in the middle of it and on and on it took forever.

Luckily I keep the boxes for everything. I don't know why they don't have the QR code for both available on the device.

Hey, I'm disappointed too. But I'm not posting disparaging comments about the team making it all happen and claiming that they are giving up. If they give up, Tesla will tell us, not say it's simply taking longer than expected. The fact that it's taking longer than expected is not surprising. Big goals require optimism to achieve.

I have optimism that the final product will be more seamless and less buggy for the extra effort. This is not the kind of hardware that you want bugs with. It has to be reliable and safe, even when the customer operates it's in weird edge cases.

Waiting patiently.

The people with the F-150 whole home backup have been having many issues with a complicated system from multiple vendors all pointing fingers at each other. I know Tesla will get it right and make it all seamless. I just got a Powerwall installed and will be one of those waiting.

Interesting comment. I figured that Ford had the backup system all worked out. Makes me want to know more about that.

Yes that is an option. Also there is the option to use existing pWs and gateways prior to 3v. 2026 software release....I was just seeing if anyone actually had their Gateway 2 and Pws system wired already with Universal connector......
Siddhant told me that any version gateway should work. I have a V1 gateway and am really curious if it will work whenever they get this software working.

Did you also see Wes commented on this?
