Yes, it’s all on the same bus. I had a NEMA 14-50 on my subpanel before the PowerShare install which worked fine with the Cybertruck at 40 amps.

Have you asked your installer about connecting the UWC through your subpanel?
Thank you Mongo and Schmo for the responses!
Yes, I was asking a couple of the installers about it when they were visiting the site for the estimate, but they all ignored it, they wrote estimates with the wiring all the way from the gateway to the charger. I don't know how else I can explain it to them, what I'm asking them to do...

Tell them to read the fine print in the installation manual:
This breaker can also be installed inside of a load center that is located downstream of the Gateway 3V.

Ok, they now understood and considered my request. They say that the subpanel will be over it's capacity with the new charger, particularly because we have already another charger on it, which we're about to keep.
Provided that we don't need to use both chargers at the same time, is there a device (load manager?) which will allow only one of the two chargers to be active at a time? They say there's no suitable device, particularly such that supports two-way flow (for charging and backup).

Are they both Tesla Wall Connectors
In a non-Powershare dual wall connector setup, recent versions can coordinate load. But that's not (yet?) a thing with Powershare. It should be able to be done eventually since that communication is wifi.

Can you have the other charger set at a low current level? What is the panel ampacity?

I haven't received the final bill yet, but should be less than $2K after rebates.

Two holes, each a foot square, were cut. I offered to have my painter patch them. One hole was where the wire entered the house and the other was where it entered the garage. See the interior picture with the ladders.

The Tesla Gateway can be installed between the meter and existing main panel for whole home backup, but then you need to wait for approval (and inspection) from your electric utility. That can take months. By installing the gateway after the main panel, the utility does not need to get involved. (They treat it as a generator)

My installation allows the gateway to be directly attached to the meter if needed in the future.

A 125A breaker was installed in my main panel that fed the gateway power. The electrician then moved three circuits from the main panel (my sub panel and two air conditioners) to the gateway panel for backup. A fourth circuit was run to the UWC in my garage for the Cybertruck. (The panel in the gateway only has room for four breakers which worked out perfect for my needs.)

The only remaining circuits in my main panel are my oven, dryer, and solar inverter. They are my non-backup loads. I didn't need to touch my solar wiring and it will shutdown during an outage as expected.
so $4500K minus the Tesla $2500 rebate?
I'm getting quotes for over $5K just for the install power share bundle is extra $2500. So my total would be almost $8K. Insane!

My install was over a year ago when there was no Tesla rebate. Tesla provided the hardware and I paid for installation. My electric utility, Austin Energy, provided the rebate.

I just had a power outage on Tuesday and PowerShare kicked in exactly one minute after it started. Worked great!

My next project is to move the solar breaker inside the Tesla Gateway so I can charge the CyberTruck during an outage.

My quote was for $4K and I had the WC and Gateway as part of my FS purchase. I consider that a huge savings for quiet and reliable multi-day battery backup. I have a whole-home generator that is loud and air cooled so I have always worried about multi-day outages. And I have neighbors that spent tens of thousands for 26 KWHs when I spent a fraction of that for 123 KWH. Sure, they can run off grid when the grid is on but I don’t consider that the bigger part of battery backup. PowerShare is a huge benefit!

You can also, but Powershare/ Cybertruck is not meant to do that on a regular basis. (No time of use load shifting)

Just did this today with our system expansion and it worked like a charm. Did a test and cut the power from grid while the car was plugged in, and Powershare kicked in, but it actually powered the house and charged the truck due to the solar production. Woohoo! I'm so stoked to finally have this functionality.

Did it require a software update or reconfiguration?

Or was is as simple as moving the solar breaker to the backup loads side of the Tesla gateway?

As far as I know it was the latter - they dropped the new system into the gateway and voila.

I should note that my PowerShare doesn’t show that I have solar, unlike some others that seem to see their systems in the app.

Which brand solar inverter do you have? I have SolarEdge and want this setup.

That is great news for you. I wonder when PG&E in the Bay Area will get Tesla powershare working similarly on houses with backup generators and transfer switches (and solar). I really have no idea how I would even know if they do/did.
