Looks like I’m not alone. Great review by OQ Detailing.

Forever grateful, being the guinea pig, for a product released before it’s ready. The video is just a glimpse of my 3 month battle with Protectaclear.

Here are my updated thoughts:
  1. Yes, the drips on the side of the hood is now on the plastic inside and will not come off without acetone which discolors all plastics
  2. Did not have to tape before, yup drips all over the bumpers, trims, rubber trims, and inside the frunk. My loss for following the original video and directions.
  3. Installed in sections, panel by panel as recommended before, nothing matched or blended in between
  4. Do not get it on the glass, it is as hard to get off as stainless steel. The rubber seal on the windshield will be white after the acetone
  5. Bugs love this coating and bug spots for not clean up or self anneal with second coat
  6. Rainbowing was a HUGE no no before and now acceptable? Just coat and walk away she said. We are all learning at customers expense?
  7. Did the whole truck with the original suede applicators, not possible to avoid drips. Thank you Everbrite, for the gaslighting between February and today. Seems like it’s just the product and not the customer?
  8. Even the all mighty Jackie ended up with “sags?” It’s dripping and sagging that WILL happen. The frunk coated by Jackie in perfect conditions ended up exactly like my entire truck….and it was my fault according to them. I did not know what I was doing. ?
  9. LMFAO! It’s getting tacky and not self leveling?!?! Imagine that! ???? Get ready for three or more coats!
  10. Try it to see if you like it? There is NO refunds typically but they will make an exception and give you a 50% refund if you pay for return shipping
  11. Stripped the entire truck and coated it with DIY metal ceramic coating at 20% of the time with zero issues
  12. Buy Acetone by the gallon and gloves by the case if you want to try
  13. Anyone want to buy a barely used ProtectaClear kit for $100? ?

It’s amazing, in today’s environment if I stand feedback, Everbrite still thinks they can treat their customers like old school companies. Gaslight, deny, and ignore. Glad I have stripped my entire truck and rid myself of this fiasco forever. DIY Metal Ceramic Coating is 100% perfect for me both in application and results.

I have said from the beginning the trouble with Protectaclear. I experimented with over 20 different coatings ,cleaners, etc. This was one of the hardest products to work with. I am not sponsored or compensated in anyway from any of these products. It definitely is not for an inexperienced car detailer, let alone a DIY’er. The best product that I have used is Sprayway. I know it's not a “coating” but I don’t want to put anything on the car that is permanent, semi-permanent, or needs chemicals to remove. I spend 15 minutes spraying and wiping off with streak free results and looks like new when I am done. This is just my opinion and I am just giving my experience. This is not a post to bash Protectaclear or steer anyone away from using it, but there are other products much easier to use with great results.

Thank you for your genuine feedback and the spray away recommendation. I’ll definitely need to give it a shot. ??

I put Everbrite on my truck. It's not perfect but it has some advantages. First is color. If you don't want orange this gives you a nice silver color that keeps away the fingerprints.

It also is very easy to clean. I just spray it down and a quick wipe to remove most dirt and bugs.

The issues are it takes practice and the correct applicator to get it to go on nice. For me it seems you really want to put multiple very thin costs until the rainbow goes away. Usually 2 to 3. This will take more time then a one and done coating.

The good or bad depending on how you look at it is this. The coating is soft and can scratch, but because it's soft and thin you can go over it with another coat and spot fix scratches. You don't have to remove and redo it for just a scratch. You can also take it off with acetone. So if you want to redo a section something you can. Or just get rid of it completely. I like that I can fix it with a quick wipe, but that means that you will have to maintain it.

In the end if you want something you can just put on and never deal with again then Everbrite is not for you. If you want something that will get rid of fingerprints and be easy to clean, but will take occasional touchup then Everbrite might be perfect for you.

What metal ceramic coating did you use? (I heard typical ceramic yellows on stainless) I am thinking of stripping my protectaclear coating off and trying something different.

I am NOT very OCD about my vehicle's appearance, after all it is still a truck, doing truck stuff.

I am not planning to cover it in "gussied up" saran wrap. One of the reasons for selecting the CT and paying the premium is it is built from stainless steel. I say again, STAINLESS STEEL!

Yes, I am ok with wiping off the bugs and fingerprints once a week, especially if there is no permanent damage.

However, If there ever is an easy to apply, easy to maintain product that will keep my CT cleaner and make my life easier, I am all for it. I just have not seen where anyone has found that product yet?

I had some issues as well. Mine started peeling after a week or so with 3 coats applied after following all directions.

I used a single bottle of the DIY Metal Ceramic Coating. Had to purchase it from The Clean Garage in PA since it was out of stock everywhere in California. Been a week since and I’ll post photos after I wash it today.

Wow, may be the humidity? Don’t have that issue in California.

I tried Undrdog Pro ceramic on a panel after spending weeks in protectoclear hell. The color to me appears to be exactly like the base metal color, protector clear turned it a sort of Gray which isn't necessarily bad if you could ever get the coating on without drips or rainbows. The ceramic shows some fingerprints (not as bad as base metal) but they can be cleaned pretty easily, my main concern was bird poop and rotor dust which actually does stain the base metal and you need bar keepers friend to clean if you don't have a coating. The undrdog product reads exactly like the DIY ceramic, seems very similar or the same. I'll be stripping off the protectoclear from the rest of the truck over time but I'm too annoyed to deal with it all at once.

LOL! I hear you brother. Ceramic coat behaves just like clear coat. You have finger prints on any car but all I want is for it to wipe or wash off easily. Best part is, on 30X HFS, all you have to do to strip it is BKF in n a rotor and the acid abrasive takes it right off. It would be the same for regular cars but the clear coat would be scratched.

Protectaclear dulls the finish and I wiuld have settled if it wasn’t for the hell I went through: life goes on.
