PSA - Center Read Armrest lowering - Pull Tab

To lower the center rear armrest:

There's a tab at the base of the center seat back that you pull, and then, while still holding it out, you can pull the top of the center backrest down. It's takes two hands unfortunately...

Needs a spring so that it pops-out just a little when the tab is pulled

Seems like kind of an odd design, any idea why they made it that way? Maybe so it doesn't accidentally come down?
No storage inside that arm rest is there?
