Anyone else experience the rear drive inverter fail?

I have 7100 miles on a dual motor. It failed when coming to a stop during regen. It disabled the rear motor and I was limited to 51 mph. Took a week to repair. I have an early vin. Just curious if this has happened to others

Thanks in advance

Just happened to me today. I was running about 75mph and felt a thunk in the rear end. Rear drive motor disabled and limited to 51mph. Fortunately, I was only about 25 miles from a service center. Tesla was willing to tow me there, but I opted to drive it since I could and would get there faster than waiting for a tow. 10 minutes at the service center and they had me in a loaner and on my way again. Vehicle has been diagnosed as needing a new rear drive motor inverter and now I’m just waiting on parts to arrive and repairs to be completed. My VIN is in the mid-1300s, dual motor, and about 14,000 miles on it.

Yikes! Would everyone mind sharing their VINs?

Oh crap, happening up in the 5,000 VINs that is a bummer and scary as we are about to head out on a 4,300 mile road trip :/

Is this happening in the AWD rear motor or are some of you Beast owners too? I wonder if there was a manufacturing defect that's prompting the "upgraded" drive unit replacements.

I had this happen in my '16 Model X around 75k miles. Replaced under warranty. Coolant got into the rear drive inverter and messed it up. Since it was an early VIN, parts were difficult to source and it took my service center almost 2 months to fix.

Another example of why its never recommended to purchase the first year of a vehicle, especially with a brand new platform.

Yeah but...my truck is my fourth early build Tesla. Vin 3983 S, Vin 3500 3, Vin 60xx Y and now truck 68xx. While all (except Truck so far) had some issues that needed service, none of these ever left me stranded, needing a tow etc. The biggest issue I experienced across the board was really fit and finish issues which frankly don't bother me all that much (and the Cybertruck build quality has been impressive thus far). I have enjoyed getting an early experience on the latest this incredible engineering company has to offer and my ownership of the Model S reinforced my conviction to invest in the company which has been...good.

My VIN 1101, note the service experience was good, took it in the next day, provided a loaner, good comms on the app to keep me informed
