Check out this photo of the the Cybertruck's rear view mirror. Looks like it's projecting an image of the vault cover? Which would mean we're looking at rear view mirror with display screen .

A standard mirror would do the same damn thing. The camera needs to be behind the tailgate or else the vault would block the camera or mirror!

I would say if it was a mirror you would see the vault cover, but if it was a screen displaying a camera view, you would see outside of the truck. It would be useless to display inside the vault.

Just my thoughts.....
Unless it can show either, with a prompt

It will certainly have a rear view camera (backup cameras are now required by most states) The backup camera will be on the main touch screen. The rear view camera (the always on camera with vault closed)
Will certainly also be on the main touch screen IF Elon puts that software option in.

Elon is extremely cost effective and would not put another LCD screen in the rear view mirror with all the added wiring when they already have a touch screen display that is effectively free and much larger to display the rear view when driving. We can already use the rear view camera on the 3 & Y but must use the software button, it would be nice if the software would aromatically show the rear view with the valut closed.

someone earlier in this thread brought up a VERY good point.. that view of the rearview may just be showing the view if the rearview mirror is pointed at the headliner and the cover is closed.. reflection off of the cover onto the headliner then onto the rearview may WELL just show the TOP of the cover if the rearview mirror is positioned wrong..

In point of fact this makes the MOST sense.. If this were a view from INSIDE the bed.. it should show a dark screen with mainly black and white from using a night vision camera.. also why would a bed camera be aimed at the TOP of the bed... you would want such a camera at the front of the bed facing along the length so you can ensure your cargo hasn't broken free of restraints.. my initial thought was on the tailgate facing in.. however you MOST need this camera if hauling a load with the tailgate DOWN... so the only real option wold be back of the cab/top of the inside of the bed.

Do we know where this picture came from? It would help to see it zoomed out so we understand it in better context.

Yes, but the reveal night Cybertruck prototype had a digital mirror.

Exactly.

What's funny is that Elon has repeatedly said that the Cybertruck will have some "insane features" and that it's a "hall-of-famer product." Do we not think that it will have a rearview camera that even a new Hyundai Palisade has?
