Newsmax just reported that Tesla is going to be ready recalling over 46k cybertrucks..

Tesla to Recall Over 46,000 Cybertrucks Over Exterior Panel Issue

March 20, 2025

Tesla said on Thursday it is recalling 46,096 Cybertruck vehicles in the U.S. over an exterior panel that can detach while driving, after more than six call-backs for the pickups last year.

Tesla is recalling the vehicles over issues of the cant rail — a stainless-steel exterior trim panel — delaminating and detaching from the vehicle, it said.

As a remedy, Tesla service will replace the rail assembly free of charge.

Damn, I was going wrap my truck around next week, I guess I should hold till I get a recall fixed. :( just in case......

100% you should wait to rap it, not sure exactly how Tesla is going to deal with the whole rapped CT thing other than say "aftermarket modification not covered"
For some folks it will be no big deal if they have a decent rap shop and used a common color.

People who worked with less than reputable shops OR have a custom color are going to feel a pretty bing sting from this, but better than if it fell off on the highway.

Interesting, that's via the NHTSA/Tesla web site and service center?
What were your build and delivery dates?
I scheduled appointment and started convo with local service center. I also checked the Tesla Recall site

Received by Cybertruck in late June last year

Really weird then, I've heard some people's show on the lookup, but service doesn't see it in their system, but to not show in the search??? Mine from May 2024 shows up.

Who knows, I will keep checking to see if it is a timing thing, but does seem weird that mine is not listed being from June

And what do you know, just checked again and it is now showing up for recall for my VIN. Not sure what "remedy not yet availbable" means though, guess another message to service center

March 18, 2025Recall Incomplete, Remedy Not Yet Available25V170 Description:
Tesla has issued a voluntary recall on model year 2024 and 2025 Cybertruck vehicles to replace the cant rail assembly with cant rail that meets durability testing requirements. The cant rail stainless steel panel may delaminate at the adhesive joint, which may cause the panel to separate from the vehicle.
Safety Risk:
If the cant rail stainless steel panel separates from the vehicle while in drive, it could create a road hazard for following motorists and increase the risk of injury or a collision.
Remedy:
At no charge to the customer, Tesla will replace the cant rail assembly with cant rail that meets durability testing requirements.

Tesla must resolve any active recalls before delivery. So, at this point, any new deliveries are fixed.
Recall count includes all trucks produced with the issue, whether sold or not.
Vehicles delivered before the 20th have the issue, unless Tesla started fixing them post-hold pre-recall filing.
The document says they had not fixed it in production yet. So yes, those will need to be fixed (but since they weren't delivered, they're not 'recalled', they're under 'containment hold' or 'extended inspection'.)

Kind of a pain in the ass to have to go to service center for this recall.
I guess it’s relative. One could say that any SC visit is a pain, or that any interaction with any business is a pain. Simple solution: don’t get the fix and accept the liability if yours fly off and cause damage or injury. I’ll get the fix.

It likely means they are not sending out parts for customer vehicles yet (parts are going to inventory and then new production first).

My SC (West Covina) just cancelled my service request. Said ‘recall isn’t available yet’ and to check the App at a later date.

FS AWD, 113xx, Delivered May 2024

Vehicles do not need to be delivered to be counted in the recall notice.

Not sure this is accurate. My VIN is not part of recall and confirmed with Tesla Service center. Not sure if they messed up or not all Cybertrucks produced are affected
Same here. VIN 51XXX. Received delivery in Nov 2024. Tesla just said recall doesn’t apply to my VIN, but https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls shows recall is applicable. I asked Tesla rep to confirm whether the issue is fixed in my vehicle. Probably it’s fixed as the VIN is above 50K ?‍♂.

Not fixed. Tesla skips VINs. Database probably needs updating.
