Agree with the feature creep comments. They could have provided a dufflebag of goodies to the first 20,000 and called it a day. They could have stuff like a nice air-pump, flashlights, a speaker, trail cookware, and pens.

I was enjoying the many unique features demoed in this video, at least initially. The rechargable flashlight in the driver's door seemed like a low-cost and functional feature. But as they showed more and more, I got the impression they were suffering from "feature creep" and had just too many "oh-wouldn't-this-be-cool" items that were adding cost and complexity.
Also kind of begs the question.

Did they decide that raising the cost of the truck was more palatable than nuking some of these trivial options?

I’m sure that isn’t a $16k flashlight, but there Are certain to be a collection of changes they could have made to carve at least a couple grand out of the price.

If Cybertruck pre order prices go up and there is a poll on this website, vote "I will cancel my reservation", even if you're lying.

There were polls on reddit and on a Rivian site that looks like this site and that might have scared Rivian.

I think Rivian is where Tesla was on the Model X. They went with the mentality of "no job is too big, no fee is too big" and created a highly effective process for creating delays and cost overruns.

The Cybertruck is positioned to be Elon's technological masterpiece, but hopefully Tesla learned enough from the MX problems to avoid repeating them.

Tesla is definitely going to change prices on anyone who ordered after the pricing was removed. I am 99.99% sure of that.

Hopefully Tesla won't charge $6750 for a BBQ

Looking at the hodgepodge of options Rivian offers, it seems like it would slow down assembly a lot for 17+ options. Poor planning.

I priced a Rivian with all options at the upper limit. It is actually $123,590. Not many people will line up for that.

Good luck with resale on this Dyson fan mimicking headlights, Honda Ridgeline mimicking body.

It lets 9mm ammo past? WTH for $123k, I expect more!

In their defense, some of those options are easy to slide in after the fact. The kitchen and the drawer can just be slotted in. Likewise the roof top tent.

Though… adding that to their logistics is just adding piles more inventory and logistics they have to manage.

And they are waiting on the kitchen slotted spoon from China on back order for 6 months due to supply chain issues. ?

I'm 99.999999999% sure
They are getting their Cybertruck in 2025. Who knows what the market looks like then.

Battery prices should be a lot lower.

Just too many variables that far out… which of course is why Tesla pulled pricing.
