This whole EPA range estimate marketing ploy needs to go away. Give us estimated "X miles highway, X miles city" estimates instead. Example:
"Model Y Dual Motor LR: 220 miles highway†, 310 miles city*" (†70 MPH, *40 MPH)"

I made up the exact numbers but you get the idea.

Saw this yesterday and it appears they do do both. I think this was related to when the EPA does the test at a lower speed dyno (hence the 70% factor)

Do you have a similar table for the Model X? Or can post a link? Thanks.

Just looked and the new stated range is definitely a lot closer to what our current MYP gets. Still a little high.... at least for us, the way we drive.

Posted elsewhere but worth re-posting. Good explanation of EPA calculation methodology. Also understanding of why Tesla's use of 5 cycle rather than the standard 70% can give more optimistic numbers.

PS EPA does not do these tests, the OEMs do (through a third party lab) and they submit the results. EPA will conduct spot audits.

PPS Model S 405 mile range has not changed. Interesting....

Range estimation is based on so many wildly fluctuating variables that I doubt we will ever see a truly robust rating system that the average IQ is willing to devote brain cells to.

Because this is what you would need to do for an accurate representation:
