Tesla not following reservation order numbers

Invite to order Foundation Series: 12.8.23
Ordered Foundation Series Cyberbeast with range extender: 12.8.23
RN: 11275****

I lived in San Francisco when I reserved but moved to Idaho and live in Idaho on the Foundation Series Order. Not sure what that will do to delivery...

I live in ID as well. I have an earlier reservation number and you got mine before me!

I just want to say that someone posted they got a foundation series that lives in ID. I live in ID as well and ordered the CT 3 days before he/she did. not sure how they are calculating that....

I received my confirmation on 23rd of November, 2019. When I ordered it I was still in the Foreign Service, stationed in Warsaw, Poland, so my postal address would likely have been a DPO address out of New York. I ordered the tri motor with the works. My prefix (I’m assuming it’s a prefix) is, RN1129. I ordered mine before some others that have a number beginning with 1128, or 1127. Could it be that the eight and the seven designate Texas and California? Just a thought.

Can we clarify since (relative to California) you’re crossing 11th s of time zones here? ?

The event happened in CA at 8PM PSR on Nov 21, which - which in Poland would be 5AM on the 22nd.

Meanwhile, when you received your confirmation email isn’t synonymous with when you placed your pre-order.

Given your number, I’m going to assume you did not make your pre-order (Poland Time) until later in your day/afternoon the 22nd (which in the US would have been the morning of the 22nd).

I believe that’s entirely consistent with a 1129 RN range.

I wonder if we're seeing a sort of advertising tactic. Why go through the numbers in order when you can cherry pick numbers that can spread the CT as wide as possible. I dunno. I'm just guessing. Cybertruck is a billboard. Plop one billboard in each big city in the beginning, work out from there. That's kinda how they planned their showroom move, right? New York, San Jose, Buena Park, San Diego, Tampa, Miami, Chicago, Seattle, Houston, Boston... They're going big cities and wide out first, numeric order second.

I definitely don’t live in a big city, just lucky I guess…

You think orders clocked up that fast? I’m postulating because folks that “received” their order verification email after mine (on the 24th and have a lower number, both 1127 &1128. That said, it could all randomly generated or they could be selecting whomever from wherever however they like, and we are trying to track vapor. Of course I’m trusting the numbers and dates posted by folks I don’t know. ?

I ordered early morning on 11/23/19 and have a 11288 number. Around 128,000 in line.

they clocked up surprisingly fast at the unveil. Specifically, at that time, there was a large Tesla following who had previously learned that to get an early vehicle you had to be clicking but/buy/buy as fast as the site opened. So there was an early rush if those who already owned Teslas, etc.

the order confirmation emails did not follow a consistent pattern of timing post-pre-order submission. Some got them quickly after completing pre-order, others got them up to a couple of days after completing pre-order.

but in any event, the numbering appears tied to when the ore-order was completed, not when the email confirmation was received.

that delta has caused a good bit of confusion the last several days. Eg “my friend got his order confirmation two days after mine but has an earlier RN” is consistent with the ‘friend’ having submitted the pre-order sooner, but received the conf email later.


Maybe important context: these RN numbers aren’t just for Cybertrucks. The same series of numbers Tesla uses for all its products. So the number immediately before yours could be someone who ordered a Model S, while the number immediately after yours could be someone who ordered floor mats.

None of which is to suggest there are no confusion and no unknowns. Instead just to level set about some of the known variables that cause confusion.
