For what it's worth, that erudite advice recommending a NEMA 14-50 outlet and adapter for the mobile charger in lieu of the Tesla wall charger?
Requires a pricey dual pole 240v. GFCI breaker for that NEMA 14-50 receptacle AND a pricey NEMA 14-50 adapter for the mobile charger.
Tesla wall charger incorporates GFCI and is plug and play. However, it is vulnerable to theft.

I agree, good option to put the Tesla wall unit in a lockable cabinet large enough to include the cable and if you have alarm system at the house put a alarm sensor/contact on the cabinet door.

Just one example there are others
$240 Charging Station for Tesla Model 3 Y Charging Cable Organizer Box Accessories Third-Generation Charging Pile Wall Mounting Connector Metal Home Charger Box for Model X S Indoor Outdoor

$75 Tesla charging pile charging

If your county/city has electrical code standards it will probably be illegal to make Tesla wall unit removable (has to be hardwired).
The second link is broken.

The UMC is $200. Adaptor is $45. A GFCI receptacle is $120. Total is less than the cost of the Wall Connector. You wanted theft proof. There you go.

Professional installation of any of these solutions is going to be several times that amount but otherwise that is by far the most affordable and secure way to ensure your charger doesnā€™t get stolen.

Honestly you are all trying to figure out how to prevent it from being stolen by reading into it way more than was asked. This is NOT what the OP asked. They asked can it be removed easily? I can read enough into it that they want to remove it when they are not on premise. Maybe a reword of the question is can the OP easily remove it themselves in a fashion that they can then store it elsewhere or take with them?

I can understand the OP's frustration here. LOL

Gave an option for that too and still got whining.

Some people canā€™t be pleased.

i dont have and havnt seen a tesla wall charger
but based on the replies, it seems to be bolted to the wall, thus not easily removable. im sure you (the owner and your electrician) could simply make it removable when you install it.

Dont get a Tesla, or any, wall connector if you want this kind of security. Run conduit to your charging location and install a 220v receptacle in a waterproof enclosure. Then just unplug the cable when not around.

The Wallbox has a QR code inside it that refers to its serial number and passcode.

Change that, and it cannot be used by others.

Thieves intent upon scrapping your stuff will scrap your stuff. There's no way around that.

PS, you hear about J1772 chargers being stolen because they don't lock to the car and they don't have Sentry Mode and many are just third party pieces of crap that don't even have a solid cover.

Ohā€¦ Now I get it, The guy on First base is NAMED Who.

The wall charger is designed to be hard wired. Removing it and leaving a hole with wires hanging out of it is probably against code. A much more elegant solution that wonā€™t be against code is to install a NEMA 14-50 Outlet.

Iā€™m confused what you mean by the wall charger is plug and play. A NEMA 14-50 outlet and the mobile charger is literally the ā€œplugā€ part of plug and play. But Iā€™m also confused about Whatā€˜s on second. So Iā€™m just going to hang out with the shortstop, I donā€™t give a damn.

So you drive a Prius, huh? I have never seen a Prius driver with a smile on his face.

I bet you're not a happy Prius driver, and you feel like spreading your unhappiness among us generally happy, albeit sometimes impatient, CT (that's short for Cybertruck) reservation holders and CT/Tesla fans.

Post up for people to take you seriously.

I can't count the number posters with single digit posts that jump on here and stir up trouble.

You may be new here, but you're type is old and tiresome.

Hey. Did you happen to post on the Supra forum and tell everyone it's actually a BMW? That didn't make you popular over there either, huh? Maybe someone else is using your handle.

PS, for any sort of cabin or outside use I would suggest to have a cabinet for the cable anyhow. Keeping it out of UV and hot/wet will reduce the amount of aging the insulation takes, and keep it working longer.

-Crissa

PPS, someone who'd steal a wall charger isn't going to bat an eye stealing a wall outlet, either.
