Is this door rattle while driving and when closing the door, or only one of the other?

My VIN is 52k and my driver door has a little rattle when I close it. Wondering if this is the sign of the adhesion issue or not. It sounds like something inside the door rattles.
Thats it. Thats the rattle. And if you get over 80 mph you'll probably hear it as you drive as well.

Ugh. So, I hear the rattle when closing the door but nothing when driving (even when over 80mph), it's quiet...(except for a tiny whistling sound at highway speeds, which occurred after they replaced my wiper motor. Before that, it was dead quiet).

I'll have to monitor it and figure out if/when I should or need to submit a service request.

This is the spot...I'm going to get butyl tape and do this myself. My SC won't acknowledge the rattle. They would probably break and scratch something else while "fixing" this anyway.

Ah, great to know. So that’s where the glue is failing to keep the steel panel attached, right?

Let us know your results!

That is how the rattle played out for me too.
On a positive note; when they replaced my two doors about six months ago, it hasn’t come back since and I’m glad I did it.

I had a vibration that occurred only over 60 mph in the passenger door. They replaced my mirror and did a few other things which did fix it. However I then developed a slight rattle after the repair. Took two trips to the service center to duplicate it but finally they heard it. Now they are saying the only way to address it is a full door replacement. My concerns are…

Will the new door still rattle?

Will they re use all the pieces of the door which could also lead to more issues and noises from stretched clips and loose parts?

Lastly will the door ever line up correctly?

Is it worth asking them to try both of the service bulletins?

I also have the window tinted and door wrapped. Sounds like they re use the glass but will not pay for a re wrap as the door issue is not an official recall yet.

All thoughts are greatly appreciated

If I was going to do this repair, I would probably use Lexel adhesive caulk rather than butyl tape. Lexel sticks like crazy and stays flexible. Butyl tape may not work as well when very cold.

I don’t want to get your hopes down but I had/have the rattle on my driver door but only when closing it. The SC did the butyl tape bulletin and it was gone for a bit but now it’ll rattle 30% of the time I close the door. So my experience is it’s not a permanent fix or my SC didn’t do a good job with the repair.
