One thing I'm surprised I haven't seen yet is "Camera lens is blocked or obstructed, please clean".
That’s truly amazing first order single point failure to expect - that hasn’t YET.

Have you Brylcreamed the lense? Go around all 8 cameras. If it doesn’t flag — its coming in the next release candidate. LOL

I think it has some kind of notification thing. I just know my one is blocked a lot by my bikes. I've been backing up and seen a big blob on the backup camera.

Maybe it does. I just haven't seen it.

I have no problem with self-driving technology.
As a former Commercial Driver that hauled tanker loads of HAZMAT I firmly believe there are some people that should never be allowed to operate a go cart much less an automobile.
At some point in time I may take a subscription to FSD if I think my driving skills are getting bad.
But......and there is always a but.......Artificial Intelligence will never overcome human stupidity.
Will it make roads safer.......there may be less traffic deaths but there are always going to be humans that take it upon themselves to be practicing idiots on the highways and traffic related deaths will continue.
Unless the government mandates that all vehicles have FSD there will be humans operating motor vehicles and causing traffic incidents (I use incident because most traffic crashes are not true accidents....they are caused by human error).
I used to investigate military vehicle crashes and I don't think I ever investigated one that could not be traced to human error.
Time will tell if AI is a marvelous servant or a terrible master.

Yeah, that’s an over-simplification.

There’s some interfaces, buses and channels between code and hardware for bits to get flipped, lenses flare and packet collisions to occur.

Mapping is one plane of abstraction but not the whole substrate of reality in which the vehicle moves. Emergency vehicle crashes, semi trailers crosswise and phantom emergency braking are teaching limits.

More mapping is not the hammer you want it to be
That's why I said "mapping of the environment" and not "mapping of the streets". If I can accurately place all objects in space, most of the hard work is done. The rest is "don't crash" lol

Mapping the environment… you mean like this:

Umm sure? I was thinking more like this:

When you play "Grand Theft Auto", the computer-driven cars don't suffer from phantom braking, or slam into obvious obstacles, because they can interpret the environment with 100% accuracy.

I figured. I just like the 3d world they show in the patents.

In video games the NPCs often cheat and just “know” where the routes are.

I do agree with you, but collision detection and avoidance is hard in simulated worlds too and often gets screwed up.

Some of it is Game Theory: if there's a drunk driving down the wrong side of the highway, do I go left, right, or just stop? My decision-making needs to factor in the response of the other driver.

Good luck with that, Tesla lol

It’s the Cybertruck, increase the ride height and speed up!

Defensive driving teaches you aim your car exactly where the Drunk car is at. By the time your car reaches the Drunk car, that car will have moved…not stayed steady

I know the person chose to have it this way. I am having a hard time getting over the combover hairstyle look with the buzzed side. I am a horrible human being.
Ah but you simply date yourself. LOL
