Well I will say that if Tesla had a battery with twice the energy density of the ones they are using now and put the same weight battery into each car the cars' ranges would double (and push the ranges of a couple of them to over 700 mi) but Tesla doesn't and neither do these people. Are they a competitor at this point? No. Tesla really has no competitors at this point but that will change. Given the difficulties involved in starting a car company attested to by the very high failure rate it is highly improbable (but not impossible) that these people ever will become competitors.

Hey guys I’m pleased to announce my new EV that will be launching soon. It has 1000 mile range and has room for 11 adults. It tows 2 trailers at once and can recharge from its solar panels in 10 minutes. Now please send me $10,000 cash and wire me the remaining $190,000 within 24 hours.

You don’t want to miss out on this opportunity!

I agree. I wanted a place to keep all these "startups" so we can look back in a couple of years and see how far we've come. Maybe one of these will actually have a real battery breakthrough.

Even if this does become real, that price is insane. It starts at twice the price of an Escalade or a tri-motor CT. And then you could buy a whole cybertruck in addition to your “base” triton for the price required to get the 700 mile version. Sure, 700 > 500 but you are paying twice the price per mile range ($280) compared to the tri CT ($140).

Real competition or not?

Triton Reveals 8-Seat Model H Electric SUV With 700-Mile Range

Battery twice as dense and half the weight? And we haven't heard about it? Unlikely.
Every car manufacturer is saying that Tesla is ahead of the pack by years on practical battery technology. Not research or fantasy battery technology. So if it is happening they have it and, conversely, if they don’t have it it doesn’t exist.

I was thinking the same thing. And look at the badge.... could they copy the Tesla logo any closer?

I also noticed the door handles resemble the Model X. Does that mean they have gull wing doors on the SUV, or maybe suicide doors. It would be hard to open a regular rear door with the handle on the front.

I am paying less and less attention to all the sensationalized headlines purporting that:

“Brand xxx is coming out with...”, or

“...going to offer...”, or

“...will be making...”

It’s all vaporware to me until they make (and offer for actual sale) something I can buy today - like Tesla does.
