Powershare update:
  • Enabling Powershare for your Cybertruck may take up to a week
  • If you have solar in your home backup circuit, Powershare will be enabled by end of year
  • If you have been installed with Backup Switch in an approved utility, Powershare will be enabled by end of year
  • For Powerwall owners, Powershare will be enabled in 2025

Hm...I had mine installed over a week ago. When I tried to simulate a power outage, the Tesla app changed my Cybertruck's status from "Parked" to "Communicating," but it never started to backfeed into my house.

Same situation for me and i don’t have solar, PowerWall, or a backup switch. My installer is coming back out on the 22nd to troubleshoot.

I don't have any of those. I managed to get a hold of someone from Tesla and I'm supposed to be getting a call back today (hopefully).

I have been waiting for this for a very long time. I received my Cybertruck in February. PowerShare was set up soon after minus the backup switch. It apparently required PG&E approval which they were delaying, which is also why Tesla provided the free year of super charging. There have already been a few outages where this would have helped out tremendously. Hoping this timeline sticks as it’s already been pushed out more than half a year from the initial promise.

They also had to disconnect the monitoring from the gateway after the bad firmware update started hammering the house with some switch that went crazy. The import numbers always said 0 while export did correctly report. Overall been quite a mess

Definitely give an update, it seems it’s been difficult for several to get through to Tesla. I tried calling and was transferred to someone who said that extension is only for installers and suggested I have my electrician call them back.

I had a local electrician install my PowerShare (Gateway and Universal Wall Charger) last week for $1246 (some wires, conduit and labor charge of $130 an hour with two electricians). Tesla shipped the system directly to me when I placed my order using the $2500 voucher. After the installation and activation with the Tesla One app, we also tried to test the system by throwing the main breaker - nothing. I called Tesla Support and no one could give me a straight answer about the Tesla app update with the ability to toggle on PowerShare. 3 days later, it showed up on my phone app and on my CT display. Toggled PowerShare ON, tested and it works fine.

Did you get an update to your truck during those 3 days?

I declined my PowerShare installation because of the high quotes I received through Merit. I would be spending my voucher of $2500 plus $5500 on the low side and $9800 on the high side to have PowerShare installed. I could purchase and operate a totally handsfree natural gas generator for that kind of money. I am now waiting for my voucher to be sent back to my account.

What’s the best number to call Tesla Support for this? I got everything setup but never had the ability to toggle on PowerShare in the app.

The main support number 8777983752. But like I said, they couldn't help. The PowerShare updates and toggle magically appeared within the week as stated.

"2025" for those of us with Powerwalls kinda sucks. It's suitably vague in Tesla-speak to mean it could be a year (or more) off.

Weird. I had the gateway installed over the summer. Have had several power outages since then and the Truck's powershare worked great every time. And I have solar. What are they talking about?

Does your solar feed into the Gateway or your main panel? My understanding is if it feeds into the Gateway, where it would charge the CT batteries during an outage, that's not supported yet.

My installation is pending.
