Aaah hahah but you've forgotten we are supposed to get the special Good-year non pneumatic (airless) tyres that should supposedly last up to 100x the distance of standard tyres. #no spare required, until spare is required ??

A quick youtube search found this:

and I def remember either tweets or on stage talk of the cyber truck airless tyres from either Hans or Elon ?
Re my previous comment about airless tyres from Good-year...
Looks like the current Beta variants of the Cyber truck are still running regular air pressure tyres from Goodyear from these pics and vids ?

You can also clearly make out the tyre details from these screenshots as well and the valve hidden behind the plastic hub cap. ???‍♂

Also what do the amber side lights signifiy for truck width again? @Crissa @greggertruck @cvalue13

I know one of you 3 are going to have a solid answer for that ?

And also seen here but only on the front for the amber side lights (width lights?)

All different angles you can see the amber side lights although I had the impression that for width lighting it had to also be on the rear as well?

Looks like they make them so they automatically slide back when the camper (etc) is turning off to the side but I don't see how those sails are going to let you turn.

Yea that's why I was wondering if the possible hard points under the bed might be to far forward to allow a proper 5th wheel configuration. And the 5th wheel is supposed to go over the read wheels for best load handling/ distribution is that right?

the amber side lights don’t signify anything really, those are regulatory mandated on all vehicles - just marker lights at the quarter panels for side visibility

sounds like you were thinking instead of the wide vehicle amber indicators that would run along the front and back of any vehicle >80”

we haven’t seen those in a long while, but seems the CT has various lights possibly disconnected for now

(that said, we’ve now gotten VERY detailed videos of the front grill/hood area where they would need to be, and there’s just no seeming location for them.)

Silicon Valley folks don't get flats. I bet they are going to pacify the spare tire folks with some Baja style tire rack. They must not want the vehicle to catch on commercially if there is in fact no spare.
Tesla will likely offer a spare for those who think they need one but, IMO, it's kind of an out-dated concept for most common use cases. Those who think they need one can stash it wherever they think it makes the most sense.

Everything you read says exactly that:
"A fifth wheel hitch is designed to be installed in the bed of a truck, centered between the wheel wells and mounted directly above or slightly in front of the rear axle. "

Yea I was thinking of discussions on the CT forum about the 80" wide-vehicle amber lights. That we speculated on in previous years. Guess we don't need to get the 'laser chickens' out just yet to measure the width and length ??

seems everyone is just about satisfied that the CT exterior dimensions are “just about” the same as an F150 SCREW/Lightning - maybe a couple inches shorter. Regardless, 4WS being confirmed means it will be materially more maneuverable than any traditional pickup without 4WS (assuming ~same wheel base).

At which point the more nagging question is: how many chickens fit inside

Will it have a stock of depth charges in case of submerged threats while acting as a boat.
What I'm most worried about, what if I get a flat tire while acting as a boat? Will the jack work sufficiently well under water and where will I store the scuba gear so I don't have to keep coming up for air whille changing a flat tire?

Don't laugh, I want to make sure I'm prepared to handle anything, no matter how unlikely.

The battery is there. Under is stupid. I'm going to get dirty enough changing the tire, I shouldn't have to pry the mud out of it; also it's light compared to the rest of the truck, so why would I put it at the bottom?

Last nail I got was actually a self-tapping metal cabinet screw. Thing put a massive hole in my rear tire. Added air and limped home to add gummy worms.

Who knew so many people identified with Biff?

Looks like from this screen shots taken from one of the twitter vids that the structural battery pack stops before the rear wheel suspension / drive motor units which would make sense.

While there looks like there could be room for under vehicle storage behind the wheels (behind that well used bash plate) from the screenshots I've clipped here. It doesn't look like it's going to be made accessible to us (however we are still looking at Beta models so who knows) I don't recall any patents for electric drop down bash plate with spare wheel from Tesla as yet ?

I've included the full vid so you can analyse it for yourself too @Crissa

Also don't know if Ryan Zohoury is around on the forum at all but thanks for the twitter vids with some interesting new angles ?

Biff Identifiers must have quotes to yell from your Cyber truck???

Biff Tannen : I can't believe you'd loan me your car without telling me it had a blind spot. ...

Biff Tannen : Let's make like a tree and leave ??

How many miles have you driven offroad before and how many trucks have you owned?

Ummm, no. Just what made you think that video was a reasonable source of information?

Why do we have to keep going over this? There is no non-pneumatic tire that can even come close to the performance of a pneumatic tire. And that's not going to suddenly change.

Here's a question what does everyone think these 'vents' are for on the left AND right sides of the rear bash plate. My initial thought was a vent for the charging port but that would only require one on the rear right side. ? could they just be water drains they seem more like a speaker grill or vent though!

? maybe a whim of fancy that maybe they'll get that technology right in time for cyber truck release ??? wishful thinking.

I wasn't suggesting that the youtube clip was a valid source of info only that it's definitely been in speculation and Elon has mentioned it like so many other things on thr CT that might be a little fanciful or being developed on 'Elon time' ?

If Elon is actually going to use these on Mars though... (if that is actaully his intent) they will need some other type of wheel or tyre that is airless to be practical It's a pretty fair bet this while be the option he's considering for that purpose.
I guess they've got another 10 years or so to make those non pneumatic tyres viable for the ride and comfort one expects from a tesla used offroad on Mars for their first mars expedition. ? but that time we'll also know how many chickens we can fit inside the CT too ?

Looks like speaker grills to me. But it could be almost anything. We will know soon enough.

Tire selection is based upon the intended use, not the vehicle model. That means if a non-pneumatic tire is used on Mars, it will be because that's the best tire for that application. It does *not* make it the correct choice for earth. No way would I be driving a tire designed for Mars on earth.

Having watched pnumatic automotive tires become increasingly reliable over my lifetime, I am totally comfortable with their reliability and would not give up any performance, nor would I take on additional rotational mass to achieve a tire that cannot be punctured because it is non-pnuematic.

I'm baffled why this topic is even front and center on anyone's mind. Cybertruck tires will be tough enough to take quite a licking, and if you do manage to pick up a nail or screw, the on-board air will make it easier than ever to shove a fuzzy worm in there and be on your way. It's easeir than jacking the vehicle and switching whees and tires.
