From the recent alpha prototypes it is clear that Cyber truck downsized to Midsize category putting it in competition directly with the Rivian R1T.

Midsize comparison is by overall dimension and not by towing / payload number which I think might drop from original release.

I have attached pictures of the Truck in comparison.

Rivian vs F150 Lightning

Rivian vs Cybertruck

Cybertruck vs Tacoma

In maneuverability, definitely midsized

In interior dimensions, waiting with abated breath

As for exterior dimensions, I’ll take a swipe at changing your mind to some degree:

seeing the front casting and frame integration, etc., has given my mental map a reconnoiter of the relevant CT proportions and volumes

before anyone mentions: none of the below does anything more than give a good (within a few % points) comparison of relative proportions - not intended to be "exact" but instead a good read of 'bigger than a breadbox' sort of visual comps

The Cybertruck is almost exactly the same dimensions of my F-150 externally... just like the Raptor in the above post. Inside? Well, it'll have more room than my F-150. Bed? CTs bed is bigger than my 5 1/2' bed... and wider... and carries more weight... and tows more weight...

Yeah, the CT isn't midsized in any measurement I can think of except, I hope, turning radius!

i *hope* you’re right here

but I don’t yet know if any basis to know that

and a few pieces of visual data to the contrary, which causes my skepticism to tingle

I post Cybertruck stuff on the Internet and people like it.

Cybertruck is right about 228" by just about 80".

Your photos are doing what's called forced perspective.

Here's a foreground rich image from Sunday that gives you a lot to see it around. I know no one else' height in the picture, but Franz is 6'3".

It's all relative. The most important thing is what the actual specs are, and how the Cybertruck fits into a garage (or not), a driveway, parking, and how useful we can make it. It doesn't matter what some people want to call it. It matters where it can fit and what can fit in it.

Until one can actually reference a recognized definitive standard of length, width, height, or size that actually specifies what a 'Mid-Size', 'Full-Size', etc. truck is, then a descriptor label is really just anyone's point of view and therefore kind of moot.

Never mind anyone proving someone wrong. To prove the point right, you need two things, which are the actual Cybertruck specs, and a recognized standard of metrics for comparison.

I'm not seeing either one of those in this thread.

Just to clarify is 228" your estimate or you've been told that is the actual length?

the latter

and it comports with the better indirect measurement info

The CT crash prototype [based on this post’s method/estimates] is nearly identical to the unveil on-screen specs.
  • wheelbase is ~142"
  • max width flare-to-flare ~82"
  • max width metal-to-metal ~78.5"
  • length nose-to-tail ~230"
the above within +/- 1-2" margin of error …
