Depends on the size of the hail.

Plus, how the CT handles hail comes down to:

(1) what the hood is made of,

(2) what the windshield/roof glass are made of, and

(3) what the bed and sail/tailgate trim pieces are made of

Thinking the CT is an OEM storm chaser is a bit optimistic

If you live somewhere so miserable you can't go outside...

...why do you live there? o-o -Crissa
Lots of people live where the weather is not great for so many reasons. Personally, in a year or two, we are moving somewhere with moderate temps and four seasons still.

I look forward to seeing just how much more abuse the Cybertruck can take than every other truck on the road. As it stands now, we have little idea of just how tough the Cybertruck glass will be. Undoubtably, there will be storms that smash windshields and dent the bodies of every exposed vehicle, except for Cybertrucks. This is going to make for some real compelling stories.

I should point out that, to the best of my knowledge, Tesla has never said the rear roof glass would be stronger than normal. We will have to wait and see.

The reason Cybertruck was announced with strengthened windshield glass can be traced back to learnings from when Tesla was investigating semi-truck design considerations. Their research informed them of how expensive windshield cracks were to the trucking industry. Apparently, the number of hours these trucks are on the road, along with regulations prohibiting use until the windshield can be replaced, was expensive enough to the industry that Tesla determined it would be cheaper to equip the trucks with stronger glass. This is one example of how Tesla uses data to arrive at beneficial conclusions.

Undoubtably, the Cybertruck will benefit from fewer rock chips too. Cybertrucks rear glass is not subject to rock breakage, except perhaps in freak/rare incidents. Whether or not glass breakage due to hail is common enough to justify the extra money spent on strengthened rear glass is unknown to us, although I assume Tesla has crunched the available insurance data and compared that to the cost of equipping them all with stronger rear glass in order to make a logical decision. Many people don't know this, but that's just how Tesla rolls.

Sometimes it's economic. Not every American can live in Santa Cruz:

The cost of living in Santa Cruz, CA is well above the US average. According to data, the median house value in Santa Cruz is more than three times that of the US average. Additionally, the Cost of Living Index (COLI) in Santa Cruz is a staggering 203.5 compared to the national average of 100. This indicates that living expenses such as housing, food, transportation, and other costs are significantly higher in this area than most other places in America. Therefore, those considering relocating or purchasing a home in Santa Cruz should be aware of this fact and take it into account when making financial decisions.

Our cost of living indices are based on a US average of 100. An amount below 100 means Santa Cruz is cheaper than the US average. A cost of living index above 100 means Santa Cruz, California is more expensive.
On the other hand, Beaumont, TX, a place with relatively high hail danger, has a house median value of $144,200, much lower than the US average of $338,100. Additionally, the cost of living in Beaumont is 77.9 compared to the US average of 100.

More desirable places to live, naturally cost more. Not everyone can afford to live in the best places. Supply and demand.

Well..... Not exactly 100% true..... We do have a bit of a hint.

Ha-ha. Elon's comment that followed is telling, but not definitive. He said something like, "Well, it looks like we need to make some improvements."

After the second window was smashed, he said "There's a little room for improvement."

That said, if someone is throwing a heavy rock/metal metal ball at my window, I don't want it coming through and hitting me in the head.

It should be pointed out that bullet proof glass cracks when impacted by a bullet, it just doesn't allow the bullet to go through. And that penetration is exactly what the reveal version of Cybertruck side glass prevented with the heavy steel ball. It would be great if they improved it further so the metal ball would just bounce off, without leaving a mark, but that's probably just wishful thinking on my part.

My favorite feature of my Lightning is the frunk. It holds my tools and my golf clubs comfortably. I hope there is some additional storage somewhere on the Cybertruck. I really dont want to throw my clubs or tools in the bed.
