They did it on the Ford Lighting and Chevrolet Silverado EV. Ton of space all around in those.
This is a Tesla fail and they will be raked over the coals for a long time.

The CT essentially has SS going for it and TBD larger windshield view. NACS used to be on the list.
You can put a Lightning frunk on a Cybertruck...

You can kind of see how these would line up (yellow arrows). That slope is like 45 degrees so the ends don't fit boxy things nicely at all. I see a pretty good slope in the hood too (purple arrow).

the best approximation for the relative footprint *at the upper opening* can be seen in this photo, paying attention to the sealing ring of the hood’s underside (the red ring)

Note that the width of the CT’s at the hood is narrower than the CT’s max width (which occurs towards the rear of the CT), let’s call it for giggles 75”, with let’s call it 8” inward from both sides, so say 59” wide (comporting with @greggertruck ’s eyeball)

Noting also that the footprint of the upper opening is also unlikely to be mirrored in the floor of the tub (which is likely a bit narrower)

This is the most generous upper/lower footprint I can muster, but will be happy to be off

I just don’t think it’s off by 2X?

I think your F150 frunk footprint is a bit generous. But you must also include a height comparison to get volume. BTW the seal (in red) actually runs to the bottom of the frunk door on an angle. This doesn't add much extra footprint though, if at all.

I think an analysis from the side would give a better representation, I'd give my CAD drawings a whirl but I'm a bit snowed under atm catching up on stuff since getting back. I think if you use the front wheel arch castings you should be able to get a decent depth and height reference.

There’s only one way to make everyone happy … pancakes.
I don't like pancakes. Now waffles, though.....

it’s all thermal

apparently, uniquely beefy thermal

perhaps that large windshield etc did prove to create some greenhouse effects needing uniquely beefy thermal?
Or preparation for HVAC into the vault? There was some talk from Elon about that being a possibility (and would be nice for camping or even transporting animals and stuff).

Or perhaps a bigger unit would give better cold weather efficiency?

I think the HVAC thermal would make sense for cooling the massive battery when doing 350+ kW charging. Big batteries take a long times. Hopefully the charging ramp is decent vs 250 kW on the 3 & Y

The climate system is pretty effective though. It’s frequently enough to turn it on just before throwing on some shoes and stuff before heading out the door.

The size thing for me is primarily about practicality, fitting into car parks and parking halls, rather than any concern for garaging it.
