I know we saw pictures of a CT going through a water ingress test chamber, but I can't remember seeing any posts or quotes that confirmed water proofing. If I take a nap in the vault with it closed, am I getting dripped on?

Same question about air tightness, if the vault is closed and there's zero HVAC connection to the cabin.... How high is the CO2 ppm going to climb in there while I'm napping....

Silly to you maybe, but not to everyone.
Silly edge case meaning so very few (you and 2 other people out of potential millions) would do this it’s not worth considering to the engineers.

However, making sure if someone gets trapped in the vault and able to breath until they can get it surely was considered.

Waterproof, no. Will it keep you dry in heavy rain? Yes. If not for your body, for the outlets in the back.

I'd be legitimately shocked if they hadn't considered someone sleeping in the bed with the vault closed. Camping in the bed of a truck under a camper shell or tonneau cover is extremely common in my personal experience.

It’s extremely uncommon in mine, haven’t seen anybody camping in a $80K truck, they get a hotel or tow a camper.

I have the same question as OP and do not think it is a silly edge case. Don’t get the mocking out for a simple question. I was also hoping to have my two dogs travel in the bed in their crates with cover closed. Lack of HVAC from front cabin may make those plans limited in time to a few seasons.

Perhaps I should have used the word “Trivial” instead, wasn’t mocking.

What trucks have HVAC from the cabin to the bed?

Your dogs would be fine, why wouldn’t they be? I think the question is will the crates fit.

It’s s rare thing to see dogs in the back of trucks too, but that’s way more common than someone sleeping in the bed. It’s just not something on Tesla’s list of stuff to worry about.

Didn't they stuff a guy in the vault at GFTX and run the CT into the leak machine? I think there is a thread there with video. As I recall, he came out dry (and alive). It wasn't an overnight though.

Water resistant, not air tight, sleeping in the closed vault is a silly edge case that i’m sure wasn’t considered in the engineering …
What ? I always planned on sleeping in the bed. They have already talked about people testing it sleeping in the back with the seats up.
The truck would be a perfect camper if you could just get airflow back there.

Nope, you are wrong. It’s not a silly edge case. Why would they offer a sleeping tent addition for 3k?

Dogs, I’ve put my dogs back there multiple times in in a crate (Ridgeline with a topper).
I have a camper but if I’m going fishing by myself there is no way I would want to bring it. Because they choose not to give the truck sufficient range sacrifices are gonna have to be made. One of the things I really want to do is go fishing at remote lakes towing my boat. I was going to sleep in the vault.

That’s not sleeping in the bed. I’m not wrong, it’s just not common.

Just check on how many videos are on YouTube with people sleeping in the back of there Model 3, Y, and S. Lots of companies making products and mattresses specially made for it.
