Tesla not following reservation order numbers

I wonder if we're seeing a sort of advertising tactic. Why go through the numbers in order when you can cherry pick numbers that can spread the CT as wide as possible. I dunno. I'm just guessing. Cybertruck is a billboard. Plop one billboard in each big city in the beginning, work out from there. That's kinda how they planned their showroom move, right? New York, San Jose, Buena Park, San Diego, Tampa, Miami, Chicago, Seattle, Houston, Boston... They're going big cities and wide out first, numeric order second.
I live in PA, I would fly to TX to pick it up. Nice long drive home to help show it off. :) But I am not in a hurry, get the gremlins out first. 11304

The gas / oil change savings over 8 years should be just fine to replace a battery.

But the Battery warranty will replace it with a comparable one within spec if it drops below 70% normal capacity. But even doing some research online, I don't see any examples of someone needing a replacement due to this issue. There are examples of needing replacements for other reasons, which is normal, no manufacturer is without failure rates on their parts when they get up to over a million vehicles sold.

The data i've seen is actually suggesting that the average that people are seeing after about 250,000km (150,000 miles) is about 85% of their listed range. And that would still take about 11 years at the average miles to get to that milage.

I know people complain about not getting their 500 mile truck, but 90%+ of Cybertruck owners won't even need the 340 miles.

Usually myself, I will use about 40% battery per day on days that I have to drive far. Tomorrow I think I need 60% for a one time thing a couple hours away and the return trip. But superchargers are popping up everywhere these days and being more convenient. They are at my gym, my grocery store, and the mall near me.

While someone could replace their battery at 70% or even higher if they wanted to, It would probably take about 10-12 years based on the data to get to 70%, maybe longer. And I personally would just keep driving my truck until the lack of range starts to be a problem and then I would schedule an appointment to replace it.
But you paid twice as much for the vehicle. So personally to me the gas savings is simply offsetting the higher price of the CT.

Same!!! And I’m even earlier. 112744! Yet not a peep. (I did not have my CA address in my account. Don’t know if that played a part).
That said, I’m not super jazzed to pay a premium just for Foundation series.
It doesn’t seem to play a part… My CA address is in my account (within 5 miles of Tesla in Hawthorne, ordered within 10 minutes of the reservation system going live, have a reservation number for a dual motor in the top 5900, and still nothing for me. If they cross referenced it, they even know how much stock I own because I participated in the launch invite, and it’s linked to my email account. Very strange to see people who reserved DMs days after me get their letters.

A 'Reservation Number' can be just a guarantee of a reservation or chance to purchase, but does not necessarily have to conform to exact sequences. Tesla may have not even assigned reservation numbers or groups in the exact order when giving them out.

Tesla might have a database with actual reservation date/time stamps to reservation numbers, and could be possibly going by that date/time sequence within certain regions to notify reservation holders.

Regardless of how awesome the Reservation Tracker is or what it suggests, there is still a lot we do not know about the exact Reservation schema that Tesla is using.

I didn't see anything in writing guaranteeing reservations being honored in sequence, only that reservations will be honored at some point.

I could be missing something, so feel free to correct me if I am.

I agree, I think they are spreading orders around different places in the USA.

I got a different issue . I ordered day 1 in Canada and ordered with a Canadian address and also was invited to order a foundation series . I went ahead with the order but it seems I’m locked into the USA region and shouldn’t have been invited in the first place. As its hard to contact anyone I’m just waiting for someone from Tesla to contact me . I’m located in Vancouver . My order number is in the 1127’s
Have you considered moving to the U.S.? I'd move to another country if it meant I could get a Foundation Series ?

I’ve pre-ordered 3 Teslas and they never go in order of reservation number. And every time people are upset.
Right. I can see how this is strange for first timers, but I’ve been here before with the Y and this is typical for Tesla.
The only thing we know is that you have to hit two criteria to get the invite:
Live in CA or TX and
Be an “early” res holder
That’s it.
I have like 5 reservations. The one Tesla allowed me to configure was not the “earliest” res number, it was like second or third. All three of those were made immediately as preorders went live in 2019. I preordered two more on Nov 30 just in case.

112744100 reservation. I watched the reveal live online in CO, and I reserved the day after. Some of the reservation numbers mentioned in this thread are later then mine but the people are saying they reserved during the reveal. I think some people are misremembering when they reserved.

I don't really care anymore when I get my email to confirm the order. I'm not buying a $80k truck that in the best case gets 340 miles for a few years, nor a $100k truck that in the best case gets 470 miles for a few years. Send me the email when it's $70k for 500 miles. I'll wait.

On Tesla.com log into the website. And go to Profile Settings. Do you see an address there?

This is NOT the address on the Tesla phone app.

Also, do you own another Tesla?
Thank you! My address was not entered. I’m RN11327…

I ordered my 3 motor cybertruck during the unveiling. My reservation number is "RN112749075". My friend ordered his 2 motor cybertruck 3 days after the unveiling, his reservation number is RN112800341. Which means he's 51,266 reservations down the line from me. He received notification yesterday (12/12) to configure his "Foundation Series" -Which I understand only 1,000 of them are being made. We both live in San Diego California. I'm super stoked for him that his reservation got pushed up from what should have been end of year next year, to now getting his, probably this month (December 2023). It seems Tesla is not following their own reservation order, which seems unfair to those of us who were further up in line. And of course, there is no phone number or email address you can reach where something like this could be addressed. Has anyone else had a similar experience? -very disappointed.
My RN# is only 20 away from yours. I'm in Los Angeles and haven't heard anything. I never even got the $1000 email. Lol. I called Tesla and they said my account is good, they see my reservation and to be patient. I want it now but I also don't need the crap that comes with the $20,000 mark up.

I lived in San Francisco when I reserved but moved to Idaho and live in Idaho on the Foundation Series Order. Not sure what that will do to delivery...

Reading through this I see there are many posts that essentially say Tesla never promised selling trucks in order of reservation number.

For a fact, Tesla didn't say that so far as I can tell.

That does not mean we are all to take a lifetime of knowing that you can't cut in line at the grocery store and discard it because it's Tesla. We are all raised to do this part in our life the same way.

If you want to be served first, get in line first.

We expect it and we count on it.

Tesla disposed of this notion, but not without cost. I don't think they should have done this without some communication. If it's a lottery, even within areas near service centers, they should just say it, so customers don't get angry.

We're all adults that can handle the news. I hope.

fyi, I'm an early reservation holder, live in DFW near-ish to a service center, own a MYP and MSP, ordered a Tri-Motor, own Tesla stock and my address is in my online account, which I think checks all the boxes. Still there are many invites to people with numbers after mine.

If you are a super early TX or CA reservation holder and not near a service center you probably won’t get picked for a configuration e-mail.

Tesla wants new model owners to be close to a service center for customer satisfaction reasons.

First year teething issues are a real thing. I see a ton of Cybertruck software updates coming down the pike as well.
