I was sitting down to look at the stock market, when I noticed I had an unread email notification. I opened up my inbox and found my Foundation Series invite! With the changes to pricing and range, I opted for the dual motor, instead of the tri motor, since my primary interest is range, not speed. I didn't plop down the extra $500 deposit for the Range Extender - I'm going to see how my little trailer actually impacts my range, before I commit to the big-ass battery.

Anyway, I thought I'd share this with the community, in case it helps get a better sense for how the Foundation Series invites are being divvied out. I was a first-night reservation, though I didn't make my reservation until after all the specs and pricing were announced. My reservation is near the end of the RN11277 range. I'm still not 100% sure I wouldn't have preferred to wait and place a regular order. BUT, I've been waiting a long time, and I really do need a truck - my 2016 Escape can't really tow my new trailer.

Congrats on biting the bullet, and being in a place financially to do so.
Saw you mention your Escape and towing a trailer.
Just a heads up you should have gotten about 280-320miles of towing range with a full tank in your escape depending on trailer.
With the CT your towing range is likely going to be about 80-110 miles with a full charge.
AKA about 1/3 of the distance.

You also already likely know this but with your escape you can pull into 99% of fuel pumps with a trailer. With the CT you are going to have to UNHOOK your trailer to charge at 99% of super chargers if going more than 100 miles or so.

Already know the range of my Escape. Towing my new trailer with the Escape cut my range down to 200 miles. What's more, the Escape couldn't manage more than 60 miles per hour. It's the size and shape of the trailer, more than the weight of it. The Escape is simply a non-starter in this contest.

If I need the Range Extender, I'll buy it when it's available. For now, I have a 12kw generator that I can take with me camping, and for mylti-day stops, I have a couple kilowatts of portable solar I can trickle-charge with. I'm not going into this unaware. Thanks!

Good stuff, just wanted to make sure you knew this thing doesn't tow like a truck. It will tow well over 60mph but might only get 60 miles of range :)

I'll take my trailer out and test the range as soon as I get my CT. A couple who live down the street from me lost about 50% range pulling a 5000# trailer, similar to mine. Mine only weighs about 2500# fully loaded though. I'll let y'all know what kinda hit the range takes. That's also going to be the variable that determines whether or not I get the Range Extender.

We have pull through chargers at 3 SC locations in central Alabama ... I guess they are adding them.

I've noticed a lot of pull-through additions as well, and I'm looking forward to many more to come. For now, it'll be an occasional inconvenience, but the reality is that 90%+ of my driving will be done with power that comes from the solar panels on my roof, via an outlet in my garage. The handful of times I have to drop my trailer to charge will be small potatoes in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks for the input!

Everything you said is true but if he’s not pulling his little trailer every day then when he’s not, he’s sitting in an Escape. To be able to sit in my Cybertruck the 90% of the time I’m not towing, I’ll unhook my boat (takes about 30 seconds) and charge away. Some folks want to make it this great inconvenience like every gas station you pass is set up for vehicles pulling trailers. Obviously there are more than charging stations but I’d rather unhook and sit in my truck to charge than drive anything else through a gas station.
