Do you all think Tesla will start making some beasts at some point? Seems crazy they keep making AWD’s almost 95/5% as compared to beasts. I keep hoping one day they just start making beasts until they catch up with AWD production. Must be some sort of parts issue. I can’t imagine they would want to make the less expensive version for any reason other that supply chain issues. I have a 12/15 order date on a beast but looking at your vin tracking, not feeling like I’ll get mine for a long time.

I don’t deal the cards, I just read them. We might see a few more beast go active tomorrow or Thursday. Today’s are looking like all AWDs so far.

Appreciate your VIn work and insights for the community here. It’s just frustrating not knowing much. Based on the order tracking here. I’m about 67 places down the list of Beast orders. Id guess about 1/3rd of orders are actually in this forum and added their order to the spreadsheet. Also the first 50-100 beasts will probably go to big wigs at Tesla and more important people to them than us peons. So I probably need them to build 250 before I’ll see a vin. Just speculation.

Sure they will make some, they already have.

Only a Beast orderer would assume that it is crazy to do what they are doing. At this point, they are working to ramp up proudction, they best way to do that is to run the same thing through it day after day. Then they can work on the "differences" that the other vehicles are. You don't even get a choice of tires today.

I worked for an Auto Manufacturer on an assembly line for 9 years in my prior career. When we launched a new model, day 1 we built all the different trims. Of course I’ve never worked for Tesla. But they clearly have built 50 or so beasts already. It has to be a parts supply issue. I don’t think they are still practicing. They did that the past few years.

it’s a driveline parts constraint, specific to the beast driveline

as you said, beast goes through the same line but for some one-off stations

That has to be the case. Prob the rear motors since they are a new design. Might be something dumb like the suede dash lol. They can put the other dash on mine if so haha.

rear motors, different inverters, etc.

and it doesn’t seem to be a bottleneck that they expect to have resolved sufficiently too soon - or that they care/plan to resolve too soon

Using this forum’s order tracker as proxy, only ~1/3 of orders to date are for Beast

meanwhile, Tesla’s stated EDDs have been ~4X longer for the beast, reaching back to the end of 2024 (compared to Q1 for the AWD)

If they expected the bottleneck to resolve sooner, they could flatten that blend discrepancy with just eg a ~month of concerted Beast builds to “catch up”

never say never etc, but the conservative view would caution for expecting a long wait

Yea makes sense. My configuration date (12/15)was right on the cutoff between a first quarter EDD and mid to late 2024 EDD according to other orders I’ve seen and the spreadsheet . I was so excited to place the order I didn’t see the EDD for my particular order. So I’m hoping it’s first quarter but not looking to be the case unless they drastically ramp up the beasts.

Do you really think 1/3 of orders are on this forum? I find it hard to imagine it would be that high. I hope you are right in that it would mean fewer people ahead in the line, but I would be surprised if it was even 10%.

I think most future Cybertruck buyers are tech savvy and found this group looking for answers that Tesla did not give us. That’s just a guess. Be interesting to know exactly how many configuration orders Tesla has sent out and compare that to our spreadsheet.

I don’t want to be a Debby downer, but just a consideration:

Before that cutoff, Tesla had a clear way of saying “first quarter” - and they used it with the AWD’s EDD: “Jan-March”

at they very same time, for Beast, they were instead saying “Early 2024”

One could argue that if “Early 2024” meant “first quarter,” they wouldn’t have needed to say it two different ways for AWD vs Beast

so, I’d read “Early 2024” to not mean “first quarter,” but instead something more like “we’re really not sure but not “mid” and not “late’”

This view is supported since then, with the blend of AWD to Beast VINs. Presumably they knew there wouldn’t be a lot of Beasts built before/during “first quarter”, unlike with the AWDA

That’s makes really good sense. Thx Ill hold out for a beast. I do have a pretty early configuration being in the second wave or so I think. So if anything changes for the better with parts, I’ll be here ready. Be interesting to see how it plays out.

The way I read his comments are in general 1 out of 3 orders anywhere are for Beast.
That is different than you saying that 1 out of 3 orders are "on this forum". HTH
