Now I’m disappointed. They put a sub optimal CT to go against 911 Turbo S. It’s like sending Thor to fight Thanos without the hammer! ?

This is NOT a Cyberbeast.
Where is the Cerberus Cyberbeast badging on the tailgate?
Answer: Cerberus is not there because it's a regular Cybertruck with 600hp.
Yea, no.

Pretty sure you can't put the AWD in Cheetah mode and they showed the mode while driving in the closing shots.

It was a CyberBeast

All tires have a speed rating because at some point / speed / duration the heat build up will destroy the structural integrity of the tire carcass leading to catastrophic failure. OEM’s must govern top speed to fall in line with the speed rating for the tire they fit to the vehicle.
Thank you!

Do all the CT UI's do that Plaid like launch effect? I thought that was just the high end models, ie Plaid/Beast.

Actually, YES.

This Cybertruck had CT AWD firmware installed and was being used by several influencers at GigaTexas. It was limited to a top speed of 112 mph. 113/114mph was reached in both the Throttle House and Carwow videos. The Carwow team noticed the speed limitation and Tesla engineers later updated the firmware on the CT to the Cyberbeast configuration.

After reading that YouTube comment section (I know, I know... I'm going to get cancer one of these days from it) I really just want to do a "reply-all" with:

"Neat.

A non-performance variant of a 7,000 lb truck with all-terrain tires narrowly missed beating a 1/4 million dollar sports car in the last 5% of a drag race."

incorrect, and misinformation spouted as expert

Tesla builds cyberbeasts without the engraving. In fact, every one built after FS series will be builtwithout the Cerberus engraving.

if you know what to look for, it’s a cyberbeast

including (ahem) that the truck has ‘beast mode’/UI **

(**Tesla is *not* giving Throttle House, of all outfits, a vehicle purporting to be a beast but without the performance of a beast)

To say nothing of the bizarre suggestion that a 911 S, with an ~11.3 second 1/4, would come in only a flash before a CTAWD with a ~2 sec slower 1/4

meanwhile, what folks really aren’t talking about in this thread: didn’t Tesla suggest the Beast has a sub-11 sec 1/4? That would have it bearing even this 911

I’m more curious to know about any software throttling on CT. What’s your thoughts on that?

you mean, whether this Tesla-owned Cyberbeast used to loan out to reviewers was speed limited further below 130 only to ensure influencers don’t thrash it?

I suppose that is possible, but would seem to be a pretty dumb move of Tesla to give that unit to Throttle House in particular.

meanwhile, Throttle house has other vids coming out of it dragging other cars, etc. they probably spent half a day on a track shooting these. You’d think TH would end up noticing, and discussing, if the CT never exceeded eg 112mph

but the REAL/better question people aren’t asking/discussing: has Tesla goverened all Beasts to below 130, just like Tesla did with the Plaid

Plaid was released with an advertised 200mph top speed. But they were all delivered limited to ~166mph. It took some time (and software/hardware updates) before Tesla unlocked the Plaid’s 200mph top end.

in which case, this TH review would be showing something more interesting than this story about “an AWD disguised as a Beast for influencers.” It would instead be showing that the Beast is generally speed limited for everyone the same way the a plaid was speed limited for everyone.

in other words: the Beasr is not actually capable of 130 (for the time being).

notably, this might explain why Tesla has suggested the Beast has a sub-11 second quarter mile, but just lost to a car that has an 11.3 sec 1/4 mile.

(conversely, what the story about a disguised AWD does not explain, is how an AWD could manage to barely loose to a car with an 11.3 sec 1/4 mile)

How fast was the Porsche going as it went over the 1/4 finish line?

Yeah I get the AWD part confusion. I think TH used a beast, but I’m not sure about the software limit on the max speed. When car wow guys tested, Tesla had throttled the limit. They called the engineer to remove the limit. They showed that in the video. So I’m not surprised if the same thing happened here as well. If Tesla didn’t care at that time, which was far more important time, I won’t be surprised if they didn’t give a F now. I honestly don’t think Tesla or Elon gives any crap for any of these things. They stick to their guns and move on.

As far as TH guys disclosing the speed limit - I don’t know dude. Nowadays it’s so hard to trust how people want to highlight CT. The devils are in the details.

Tesla engineers had set up this particular CT's firmware to simulate the Cyberbeast. It's a regular CT though.
There's literally no reason why Tesla would do that. All that would do is make their fastest model look worse and it would give them 0 benefit

They used the same Cyberbeast from their other video for this race and they got a sub 3 second 0-60 in that one, so it's definitely a Cyberbeast.

Being slower than a Turbo S is nothing to be ashamed of, those cars are fast as...

Speed limiting has to be more about motor integrity/temps than driver safety, no?
In one of the interviews with Lars, he mentioned the Cyberbeast top speed is limited by the fact that 35 inch AT tires are just not designed for it, and the CT 35's where designed to go up to 130mph (which is the top speed limit of the CT)
