No way there is room for a second row.
That is 50mm tops. The 4680 battery is 80mm tall.
It is just an airgap for..?? Keep your feet from getting hot? Protect batteries in case you hit the brakes and your acme anvil falls off the back seat?
How dare you provide dimensions not supporting doubling capacity! Munro confirmed it! Wes also confirmed it! It has been double confirmed to 500-640 miles! It has been confirmed! Delete it, DELETE YOUR POST RIGHT NOW!

Just in case it's not clear: /s

You got dimensions or any other measurements besides "half empty half full" metaphors to back that up?
You sound like a high school teen who just got asked to the prom.... ? I'm afraid you might be up for a bit of disappointment
Sandy has a lengthy video out, pretty obvious if you have watched it.

So, you got nothing but half full metaphors and your opinion for "500-640 miles confirmation". Got it

If you look at the other Tesla packs compared to the CT it will become immediately obvious that the space left in this pack is significant, and substantially more.
A common complaint about the CT is the lack of headroom, this is directly due to this pack height. Makes no sense to cut headroom to allow for unused deadspace in a pack.

Disappointing for sure. I ordered my FS beast in early January but also have a confirmed Silverado EV RST order (440 mi range for $96k). I’m only going to buy one of them. I may pass on the CT (and lose my 1K deposit) and go with the Silverado EV. Rationale: Tesla will surely fill the rest of that pack space with later models, significantly diminishing the value of early CT units.

Yea the value of the current CTs are going to drop, they have been going down but recently really dropped and assume the discovery of the upcoming pack size doubling has a lot to do with it.

If you really need the 440 mile range, then go ahead. But just remember, you're paying $96,000...for a Chevy! I know how much it'll be worth in a few years, vs. the Cybertruck, which will have FSD and will probably go up in value...

...Which is nuts, since it has more than any other Tesla.

The front seats are not to bad, the back seat headroom is limited.
Demographic wise men purchase far more trucks than women, and in general men are taler than women so the complaints about headroom are understandable.

No reason Tesla would design the core of the vehicle to needlessly eat up headroom. 2x range is in sight which is sorely needed for those that use a truck for more than groceries and need to tow.

Been waiting for my FSD to add value to my Teslas for the last 7 years. We may be on mars before that happens.

If they are lifting the lid off the bottom of the pack which shows a gap, it makes sense to me that the void/empty space is a buffer since it would be facing the road.

From an off-roading perspective this seems like damage mitigation from impacts damaging the cells in the pack.

I don't believe they flipped it upside down for this.

If the voids are at the top could they be for:

-thermal management
-fire mitigation
-buoyancy (they mentioned the pack can be pressurized)
-future larger cells (I don’t think double stacking is going to happen, possibly taller form factor)

?

It’s not Tesla’s style to waste space for no reason.
