The new low end CT has 18-in wheels and different tires so I'm wondering if I put those tires and wheels or a different tire and wheel combination on my AWD CT will I get comparable results for at least much better results in terms of range?
Has anyone had great results changing their tires and wheels on their AWD CT or CB?

I would expect better range especially if they are lighter....I know MPG on ICE vehicles is often better with smaller rims.....also the Ford lightning Platinum v lariat (same battery) have different range due to 22 v 20 (similar overall tire circumference but weight difference)

ā€˜Much better’ is a stretch…

however a lighter vehicle (no hard tonneau assy, no vent sys in seats, no underbed storage parts…etc), reduced losses in the drive drivetrain (single motor only) more efficient tire package(?) all count towards better range.

I don’t know. Maybe for someone who doesn’t know what they are missing it’s an appealing offer. But I really think with all the features removed they should have this list for $55K or $60K…not $70K.

Also less weight from dropping one motor.

I would think so, I believe that there is a lot of weight reduction on the new CT too(due to them removing all the cool stuff).
When Elon announced the first dual motor Model S he said that because of the dual motors being able to both push, instead of having one motor push dead rolling wheels, that it got better range. So dual motors should provide better range.

Rolling resistance is the key here. Weight, Wheel Weight, Tires, Tire Weight... etc. You'd most likely be pretty close in a AWD or CB with the same LR RWD tires and wheels. This can be seen on the MYP and M3P with plenty of people getting similar Wh/mi to the LR models using the LR 18" wheels/tires.
A lighter wheel and a LRR tire can increase efficiency noticeably. Just keep in mind aerodynamics of your wheel are exponential, just like the aerodynamics of the vehicle itself.

The LR is over 500lbs lighter. Getting the wheels won’t get you close to the range improvement.

On the contrary, I’m surprised that removing two motors and reducing overall weight by $500 lbs will give only 42 miles of extra range! Tri-motor Beast gives 320 miles with AS tires. If you just look at RWD on its own, 362 miles for 122 kW battery on a 3 ton truck is actually very good.

I agree. I think if they listed at $59900 it would sell really well, especially with the $7500 in government refund. Seems like the dropped 20k of equipment off of it so that price doesn't seem like a stretch. ?
