I had my truck in service last week to fix the rear vent. There was another one there, so I asked what his issue was. Service guy said that his tonneau cover was leaking. I said mine leaks too! He opened it up and saw the water stains then booked me an appointment to bring it back this Tuesday!

Wow great service tech!
Are they replacing the slat and cover or just weatherstripping? Hope they can do a good job and get your vault dry.

That looks 100% better, did you have leaking issues prior to the fix?
How did you get the SC to actually fix it and not say "in spec"?
I showed the technician the repair bulletin posted somewhere in this thread. I only had to request a service once by doing that, though the wait for parts was long. I did have the water leak issue but that wasn’t due to the tonneau water management under the slat. That’s due to the gap under the panel between the roof and the tonneau (sorry forgot the name for it). I fix that following an instructional posted by another user. I also posted what I did in this thread.

From invoice:
Repair Notes: .inspected Tonneau and verified rework is needed, remove and reworked the slat system and ensure proper operation of the Tonneau.

Can you get a pic of the interior of the vault with it closed, to see if you have the bar blocking the rear window?
I’m just curious…
You can see the bar but it’s high up so not really “blocking” and actually probably act as a safety bar in case anything slides forward.

Make sure to point out the blue “Note” under the Procedure on the Bulletin. That’s what I did. Not sure if it helped but it doesn’t hurt to do so.
Thanks have that saved on my phone for when I have my service appointment next week!

It’s interesting this is such a conflicted topic.

my beast I got last year gets a bit of water in it and everyone tells me “in spec.” But some are getting it fixed. I don’t get it

I’m not sure… I’ll find out in a couple of days

Thanks for posting. This is the same as mine, the crossbar is at the top of the rear window, which is the correct location based on the service manual instructions.

Does this look normal or should I request service on mine?

If you look at the service manual (linked in above post), you'll have the answer. :)

To answer your question: yes, this means you're missing the slat.

Honestly, it's up to you if you really want it done. Now that I've had it done, I'd say it's give or take to do it. It does look better but functionally there isn't any difference.

And you might have that rear slat in view on the back window which you don’t probabaly have now .

mine going in next week . Will see what service does .

Maybe just need the then modified sale cover which should cover that gap .

After tons of ticket requests about a leaking vault, pictures of stains down the back wall, a video of water coming in.
This picture is what finally got me scheduled for a rework....now to hope they do the weatherstripping while they are at it.
