Actually it's about 4 hours to install. Let's say they make $250 an hour, which is way over the average rate. It's $1,000 install. These people aren't surgeons.
$400/hr isn’t unusual. Depends on the size of the company.

Got installed yesterday. Contractor was ChargePro. They were who Qmerit hooked me up with, and ChargePro’s quote had to go through Qmerit for approval before they could give it to me. A couple of pertinent comments;
- the high quote (+$6K in my instance was for them creating a separate sub-panel for JUST the circuits that the gateway would allow to run in the event of a power outage. (That adds a LOT of cast!).
- I challenged the itemized quote and told them I would manage what circuits I would use., through my current breaker box … and the re-quote came in approx $2K less, so only have to pay $267, after I use the $4K Tesla credit that came with the truck.
- Lastly, they did an awesome job. Routing conduit where I wanted it, where it can’t be seen, etc. etc. They were basically there “All Day” to get the job done!
- Tesla has to do whatever testing and checkout they do remotely, and it doesn’t actually get enabled for 2-3 weeks after all the hardware is in. So, all the chatter about using other contractors, not going through Qmerit, etc. is all BS in my opinion. It’s pretty clear what the process is and it is what it is!
- I’m sure Tesla controlling and overseeing for liability reasons. Not just the truck, now your entire house is involved. My 2c
Can’t wait to get fully enabled! What a great way to have Power Back-up for your home. Go price a Generac! It would cost you more, guaranteed!

Awesome, thank you! I was just up your way last weekend doing a supply drop for hurricane victims and to run the Tail of The Dragon/Cherohala Skyway/28. Since we've left, the Dragon and 28 show as road closures. Do you know what's going on up there?
I don’t have a Cybertruck, but im debating getting one, if I do I’ll be hitting you up because I’d like the PowerShare option. Thanks for adding your knowledge to the forum!! I can only imagine how many folks are getting completely ripped off due to the current process.

If the Power Share installer puts a new meter can in the quote can this also be covered by the $4,000 installation credit?

Yep (assuming program is still open)
Is the program closed?

I am remodeling my home and part of the remodeling is to replace the over hang 200 AMP Panel to an underground 400 AMP main panel and to run out to a 200 amp Sub Panel to the other side of the house.

When I first contacted Qmerit last year, they kept on asking me for a picture of my main panel. Me, knowing that I will go thru a remodeling of the house waited and stalled until last week. When I put my code to the Qmerit site, it says that my code is no longer valid.

I emailed Qmerit and they replied that tesla terminated the installation back in March 18, 2025. They said they will ask Tesla if they can extend the $4,000 install credit and I am waiting to hear back. Does anyone know about what / how is tesla going to make me whole for the $4K install credit?? I paid full price for my Beast 11 months ago and I am NOT gonna let the $4K install credit go in thin air.

I'd heard rumors on this site of it ending, but never received anything from Tesla. Possibly because they previously sent an email saying I has declined installation (which I hadn't, I think that was a error from the Qmerit people that I didn't use). I had it installed end of March/ Beginning of April (Mid May truck delivery) and the installer hasn't come after me for the $4k, so I guess I was OK?

Are all these install fees plus you have to buy the bundle from Tesla for $2500?

The original package with Foundation Beast was Gateway 3V + UWC (later given as $2,500 shop credit or voucher) plus up to $4k towards installation (this perk went away for new orders in May 2024) .
Nowadays, you would need to buy the equipment for $2.5k and pay for all of the installation.
