Tesla Cybertruck PCS Failure - Can’t charge at all 1775469047631-5

Well, I joined the cool kids club today. I was able to schedule service for later today. 65K milage and will ask for goodwill coverage for the repair. Obviously, there should be a recall.

Wait—are people unable to charge both AC and DC when PCS fails?

I thought PCS only affected AC charging. When my Model 3’s PCS completely died, I could still Supercharge it for 4 weeks until my appointment (Sterling, VA service refused to consider it urgent). But maybe the Cybertruck PCS is configured differently…?

Yep, some variations of the PCS failure prevent DC charging as well.

Can you give us a ballpark of your VIN?

April 2024 foundation series… Vin around 5200

Also filed a report with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. My local shop in Houston is experiencing around 3 to 4 PCS failures per week (and sometimes more).

Unfortunately, I am out of warranty and may have to cough up $3k to $7k to cover repair.

I would encourage everyone, even if you’re covered under warranty to file a report with the national highway traffic safety administration to bring visibility to this issue, which definitely warrants a recall.

When you scheduled the drop off or when you dropped it off, have they given you a cost for the repair or any indication that it will be covered, even though you’re over 50K miles? Thanks

It all depends on the service center. Some of them treat people great, other ones treat people like garbage. Once you are told something, that's likely the outcome, unless you have another service center to visit.
Service center said they are constrained right now and there is NO ETA. Also said they are working on replenishing the parts but there is nothing they can do to expedite the process.

That’s crazy! So no chance of a warranty? Now I’m worried as I’ll be at 50K in the next couple of months. Thanks for sharing.
I am working though various avenues to get the PCS failure covered. It was initially denied, and I have contacted both the local service manager and regional manager. I will follow the chain of command and take the necessary steps to get it covered.

It’s obvious there’s a major issue with the CYBERTRUCK PCS that should be recalled and/or covered regardless of warrenty. If it’s not covered through Goodwill, I will take the necessary steps to go through arbitration and take legal action if necessary.

I believe Tesla will do the right thing and cover the PCS failure. Anytime you have this many failures it’s obvious a great company put out a Cybertruck that I love with a bad / defective PCS.

I'm also FS AWD in Apr with VIN 49xx and nothing wrong yet with ~14k miles. Are you Beast or AWD?

BTW, I think even you have to pay to fix it now Tesla will reimburse when there is a recall right?

AWD and you correct that in general after 50k warrenty / 4yr runs out you are typically responsible. If there is a recall, anyone who paid to have their PCS replaced can/will be reimbursed.

However, Tesla has covered PCS failures out of warranty through Goodwill which is the right thing to do considering the vast number of failures.

Did anyone else get a Model S plaid as a loaner when they had their PCS swapped?
