I know what made to order means…. There is no solid proof or logic which supports they are doing such.

there are still 10+ Foundation Series sitting in my local Inventory Lot.. for over a week now…

Or they are intentionally building them with flaws.. letting them sit to ‘fix’ after it’s been sitting in the lot??

Waiting for owners to pick up I assume, as that's how they do it.

Your post doesn’t even make logical sense , how can you say you understand what made to order means then say having to wait to get an invite then spec your desired truck is not solid proof or logic lol

also there have been plenty of stories here ppl have stated their truck was at the store but they did not have a delivery time scheduled or there is also the possibility the the truck is built and ready to be picked up but owner is unable to take delivery for the next couple of weeks

You really seem to be reaching

Short answer:
They will not..

Long Answer:
It's a simple economic exercise.:
- The production facility is limited to a max Capacity of appx. 125K annually (2,400 per week)
- The current production is at around 1,000 units per week.

There are well over 2,000,000 units of pre-reservation as of 9/16/2023

More orders are added as people oblivion to the existence of CT and learned about it.

It will take years (plural) to produce 20% of conversion rate to FS.

Everyone who places the order for CT with get an opportunity to order the CT, this includes ppl ordering today.

Cheers!

beewang
But what about if the FS conversion rate is closer to 2%? Most people put their $100 down when they thought the truck was $50k. 20% is absurd conversion rate expectation with the price increase and a good portion of people walking away from the brand since 2019 due to politics, it's nowhere near 20%.

I think the conversion will be in a U curve. Early reservations day 1 were probably pretty high, but even this forum shows a lot of day 1 enthusiasts are waiting. The people a few months and years out are probably very low conversion.

Where it gets interesting is the people who reserved in the last few months after seeing CTs driving around. These are people who probably didn't watch the launch and maybe knew nothing about the CT until it was driving around. When they made their reservation, they knew the $100k+ price, so these people presumably are committed at that price. Are there 1k people who made these last few month reservations? 10k? 100k? All of these people should be cutting the 2 million earlier reservation holders who passed the FS if Tesla has a true commitment to its shareholders.

I feel as though we may be closer than we think to the end of the foundation series upcharge.

I was assigned a vin that 3 different people had passed on, (i also passed on it).

Also people are going from order to vin in a matter of days, the production rate is accelerating and we are just a few weeks away from the 20K vin mark.

I feel as though it is really hard for tesla to justify a "limited edition" after 20K have been mass produced.

I say all this selfishly as I want a cyber soon but I don't want to pay the foundation tax.
I was invited to buy weeks ago. I hope they are at the end. But there's still too much money with the upcharge to end it yet. As an investor.

RN11464XXX here, just got my Foundation order email. Bought a Model Y when the price dropped last year, and the CT wait seemed forever. Very happy with the MY, so passing on FS. Will see if I still need a truck when the standard CT is offered.

How can you say that these new reservation holders are "cutting" in when Tesla did offer every one an option to buy a Foundation Series Cybertruck?

Doesn't make sense.

Does Limited Edition mean they have to cap it to under 20K? They could do 100K, 200K, 300K? I too am waiting for the Foundation Series to finish so I can order one.

I think Tesla is passing off customer rejected Cybertruck’s or last minute cancelled orders to those that ordered grey interiors or Core wheels hoping they take the bait.

The Q2 push is only weeks away and Tesla needs every sale they can muster. My guess is that showroom CT’s will be sold as well.

As tempting as it is, the 80K truck is right around the corner. Plus i want the extra efficiency of core tires.

I think this is definitely possible because I put in a reservation one year after the reveal, at around the 1.5 million reservation more, and I have already been invited to configure my foundation truck.

This means that Tesla is nearing the end of their list. Not too many people getting foundation trucks.

I can also start a rumor or wishful thinking-as an early reservation holder, really love the Cybertruck but not that size. Tesla is about to begin a smaller trim Cybertruck.:p
