I dont see a 2 year line with tesla's stated ramp numbers
My thoughts —I was a 5/22 reservation so towards the back end (maybe 1.3-1.5m) 2 million orders - say 1 million cancelled. And another 400k just had multiple or are passing/ got a different car whatever.. so that’s around 600k that want the truck. 2-4% uptake means at least 300k that want the truck and have a reservation.. they may hit 60-80k this year and 130k fully ramped 2025. There is 200k, so I am probably still another 100-150k away. There is your two years … and to get a truck that is $300/month less but with no amenities .. checks out for me to go if I get the FS invite. That’s my use case. I could be wrong, but I don’t plan on finding out

Ironic that I see the end of FS coming, on the same day I see my 1st CT "in the Wild". I was in South Everett, WA. And it was really hard not to embarrass myself by trying to snap pictures while driving....

Elon Musk says during today's annual shareholder meeting (see video below) that Foundation Series production ends soon and that non-Foundation Series Cybertruck production / deliveries will start next quarter (Q3 2024):

And statement from Tesla:

Made the impossible possible with Cybertruck.
Our goal is to ramp production to 2500 units/week by end of year

Wooow! That's the best Cybernews all year, thanks!

I gotta hand it to Tesla, the foundation series was a brilliant move. Whenever a new hot vehicle like the CT gets released dealers offer it with a "market adjusted price" and milk it. So hats off to Tesla. It got me wondering, how much money did they make off the FS? Did they sell 15,000 FS vehicles? Very smart and if I'm not mistaken, they made a similar move with the Model X? The white edition?

They are trying to figure out what to throw into the Optimus foundation series. Maybe $20k mark up? ?

Holy cow this is a hot thread ?

I wouldn’t be surprised if they discount the foundation series towards the end of production due to the decrease in FSD pricing. The rest of the benefits have only really be attributable to shock appeal or popularity. IMO.

If they do roll out FSD in the coming month or two to the CT, non FS roll outs will obviously (in my mind) be without FSD included. Correct me if I’m wrong please.

I personally have been blessed with an early adopter syndrome, which has probably cost me $80-$90,000 over the last 10 Teslas that I have bought since 2014, but we have truly arrived there IMO, so I don’t necessarily see the non FS discontinuation as being a major part of the incentive to buy at $80-$100k IMO.

You’ll effectively still have to pony up if you want FSD capability. Possibly worse than $8k going forward. Which, as an early adopter AND financially able party, would lean me towards the FS over waiting for what comes after.

I don’t care what Elon says I don’t see non FS being delivered before end of 2025 ( meaning Octoberish ) . He is a master salesman and he will say what he can to keep ppl on the hook to buy but with the current backlog of CB needing to be filled along with not a single tactical gray interior being delivered yet all I got from him saying that is keeping buyers on the line

for me personally the 20k isn’t worth the ( more than likely ) full year wait especially when you factor in the options that come with the FS. I was definitely one of the ones complaining about the FS until I actually paid attention to what comes with it and from that perspective you are only paying about 5k “ ADM “ and me personally I’m only with paying 5k and not waiting another year.

I know for certain I waste more than5k in a year on useless BS so at least with this 5k I have something to show for it

I wonder if people who gave received FS invites but have not placed an order will get first dibs on the standard builds, or if they will reset the queue.

If the $7500 tax credit applies to the non-FS AWD version we are talking $72,500.

That‘s a major savings of $27,500 over the FS trim.
I wonder how to get FSD and still claim $7500 tax credit. Does anybody know whether we can add FSD later for the price we locked in during reservation. I locked FSD at $7K. Tesla said they will honor, but I think they will do that only while ordering, but that'll cross the Federal Tax credit limit.

If the CT FSD price stays at $8K for everyone after ordering non-FS AWD, then I don't mind losing $1K and get FSD later. I just have to keep my fingers crossed for the price to not increase.

I’m not up to date on the Chevy EV, what’s the towing range? How many LBS?
From AI.....but matches reviews..."The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV has an EPA-estimated range of 450 miles on a full charge for the Work Truck (WT) trim. The RST trim has a GM-estimated range of 440 miles. However, towing at the maximum capacity of 10,000 pounds may slightly decrease the range. For example, towing a camper could reduce the effective range to around 225 miles.". Battery is 2 x larger, towing range is 2 x longer.

They should right? Otherwise there is no point of reserving early. Just like FS orders, they will start going from the beginning of the queue to offer non-FS model. If they decline, they might go back to the end of the queue.

~@1300 CT per week as of today, they will be reaching driveways next quarter end with happy smiley people shouting from the rooftops how brilliant it is, especially at ~$79K for the DUEL and the more attainable CYBERBEAST for those who wanna live a bit more 'on the edge'
