You're 100% right. That's why most companies do not promise, they only deliver when ready. At my company its policy to not give timelines for feature or bug fixes. The original "boy who cried wolf" story (Greek version) is thousands of years old, its not a new lesson to learn.As opposed to the vast majority of CEOs who under promise and under deliver?
But mostly, it's not really possible to accurately specify how long it is going to take to deliver the impossible.
It was only a very few years ago, that what Elon was doing with both SpaceX and Tesla was literally and functionally impossible.
Like I said, a timeline of the impossible is, well, impossible?
Its amazing what SpaceX and Tesla have accomplished, I do not think Elon needs to overpromise anymore, just deliver.
