Homelink on Cybertruck - anyone install?

Except you are not able to stop the garage door halfway, that's my biggest pet peeve about it. It's better in the sense that you know for a fact if you left the garage open or closed and you can close it remotely, etc. However, if it starts closing on you by mistake, you better get your truck out of the way because it will get crushed by the garage door, there's no way to stop it from the car. Maybe I'm dumb and I haven't figured it out but I had a separate thread about this and everybody agreed that there's no way to stop the garage door once it's opening or closing , you have to wait for it to fully open or fully close before activating MyQ on the Cyber truck again.

I noticed this same issue as well, pretty dumb that you can't do that but I bet its due to some type of safety regulation related to the whole range associated with internet controlled switches.

Yes, you are also missing my point, the probability that it happens is really low, unlike HomeLink, which is really high.

And it finally happened. Have no idea why my MyQ thinks it’s off-line. It’s sitting in the exact same location less than a foot away from the Google Home node and should buy all counts be working. But it really doesn’t matter why it’s out!

The reality is my ‘23 MS Plaid has both Homelink and myQ and if one doesn’t work I can use the other. So, does my wife’s ‘20 MYLR. So, did my ‘21 M3P!

It simply makes no sense (TO ME) that Tesla’s “most advanced” and currently most expensive consumer vehicle has fewer features than these other .

Sometimes, more is more!

Now, having two other well equipped Tesla sitting around, I can simply open the app and use my controls to open the garage with one of them and avoid this first world problem of having to get out of my cybertruck and go click some buttons, the point is I really shouldn’t have to.

This is lame and Tesla needs to address it.

What did the phone app say? And I don't see if the vehicle was connected to cellular or WiFi. Sitting next to a route doesn't mean that it's connected to it.

I think it’s actually a MyQ problem- I’ve had the exact problems with the exact same frustrations. I used the phone MyQ app to see the same “offline” nonsense. There’s a WAP right above the garage door opener. The openers MAC address shows up on my network device list and is active.

I’ve used the phone app to try and “reconnect” or “wake it up” it by going into that openers settings (the gear) tap on device control, change something and change it back. Really any setting and back out. As I’m typing this I … I will try and set a static IP address for the MyQ opener so it doesn’t have to try so hard at staying online and the chamberlain / MyQ junk software might have a better chance of working more reliably.

This was a problem when it was just my phone and MyQ - no cars had it. I miss homelink.

Couldn’t agree more, Homelink works, MyQ doesn’t. Tesla needs to fix this error in approach, by not including homelink built into the Cybertruck.

MyQ is worthless to me. I have two gates that do not have WiFi availability therefore MyQ is not a choice….and homelink works perfect. I also have two model X’s that have Both MyQ and Homelink….I was shocked when I received my Beast that I had to have my remote attached to the visor. What a step backward.

And there's a lot of other folks that MyQ is worthless to, as well as HomeLink.

They don't have garages.

I've got two gates that neither will work on, both are manual cow gates to the pastures.

I vote for HomeKit ASAP please! It just works for all of my other vehicles, its crazy that the Cybertruck can't use it....

I have my Q and use it with my M3, I havnt hooked it up to the CT yet as most of the time no it is in the driveway not the garage. I do like that the garage opens upon arrival But let’s be honest it’s silly and a waste of money IMO. I could just as easily use the clicker and put it on the visor or some where for free. I’m just a sucker

every single other device in my house literally hundreds of them (mostly hue lightbulbs) fully connected every device, Rings all the cars, not a connectivity issue. It was a myQ issue and it lasted for days. After multiple attempts trying to reconnect it to the router that it spontaneously disconnected from it spontaneously reconnected. ?

and of course all of that is besides the point, home link is superior to MyQ and it is absurd that it’s not built into the Cybertruck. Absurd.

I’ve had MyQ since at least 2018 as part of my smart home set up. Before I ever got a Tesla I used it to monitor whether my garage was open or not open it remotely all of the things. I created ITTT Routines with it and everything else. It’s not my first rodeo with this technology! Well before they decided to go to a subscription model! Well, before it was built into any garage door openers.

It’s great for what it is. And it normally works but not as a primary. Remember when people were up in arms about Apple removing the headphone jacks before people were comfortable with it I was very comfortable with that I hadn’t used a plug-in headset for probably five years before they finally pulled the trigger. Marquez still complains about it to this day on occasion.

This is much worse. There really is no justification for it. I gotta scrap a 1970s cookie box into my futuristic vehicle because of this oversight/overreach. It’s dumb.

Exactly, and there are 2 major differences with Apple removing the headphone jack.
1. If the headphones don't connect, I'm not locked out of my house.
2. They "replaced" it with bluetooth. Which is a standard that any company can use, any bluetooth headphones will work. (and without a subscription)
